Hi,

Im facing this weird issue.

My config is in the sig.

So i OC to 316x9.5@1.212v, FSB: DRAM->1:1 in the bios

Everythings working fine and even after a shutdown and restart everythings fine.

But once I switch off the main power from either the SMPS or the UPS, the OC gets nullified although the bios still has the new OC values intact and while booting up in the post screen it says 316x9.5 something something.

And then if i go to bios it shows the OC settings and now if I exit without saving and continue CPU-Z shows a 3.0Ghz OC.

Also the PC use to sometimes abruptly power off for a few seconds while starting after the mains from the UPS had been turned on after a switch off.

Is something configured wrong or is the piece faulty, should i get a replacement?

Bought from SMC btw. Any pointers?

regards

but the clock is working fine, shouldn't the time also reset if the battery is bad

^^ correct .. bios reset would affect the clock as well. So it is something else .. pretty singular problem .... may i suggest a bios flash (at your own risk of course).

I have already flashed the latest bios with abit utitlity some time back when I hadn't OC'ed the system.

okay so tday i went and submitted the mobo with smc, will go and pick up new piece tommorow.

I hav a question though, i use acetone to clean the thermal compound off the heatsink.
I dnt think it does a very good job, plus i think it removes the polish/paint on the heatsink. notice the greyish color on the fins and the outer base of the contact area.

Should i get something else? I hav lot of extra vodka also lying around, someone told me i could use it, yea? no?...

nothing wrong, its called DOUBLE POST - Turn off and tutn On again on cold boot, its common issue in many P965, P35 mobos.

IInd is called FSB reset, again happens on cold boot. BIOS 12 for E version doesnt reset FSB, check if same BIOS implies on P also. Flash to that. But do check 45nm CPU compatibility 1st. U dont need to go BIOS for correcting anything, when FSB resets, shut down PC not restart, now start, UR settings will be restored.

ah.. okay hopefully this will solve the problem, if its still there in the new board.
SMC doesn't have a stock of Abit boards at the moment, so if he gets the shipment today well n good, if not then he said ill give you someother board tommorow.

Please recommend a different brand board with Performance/Price matching the Abit IP35E which I bought for Rs5200. I can go upto 7k.
Thnx in advance

Any Crossfire/Nforce board would be in budget?

i have fallen in love with the Asus P5Q.
Killer looks. Looks feature packed. Power Connector is very stupidly located.

Its priced at ~8.5k as per the August buying Guide.
Abit IP35 Pro is also similarly priced na?

How is Asus P5K series?

Asus P5KC has is nt tht good got reviews from ma fren who had tht board donno abt P5K  :S

Okay so i got the MSI P35 Neo3 in exchange for the Abit IP35P which i had bought for 5200

Mr. Saini had also given me the offer of MSI P35 Platinum for 7.5k but i went with neo3.

This board looks a lot better than IP35P.

Config:

What do you guys think?

Could this be a IEEE 1394 firewire header, the manual doesn't say anything about this? Officially Firewire is not available on this board.

Would the bend on SATA cable cause slow performance/data loss?

P.S. that f*cker gurmeet (the surdy@SMC) said 8k for this board, so i went to saini and said wtf!!. then he said take it jlt.

man this guy is such a kameen, overcharging for everything.

@all - make sure you deal with mr. saini@SMC and not this f*cker

okay so even the new board double posts irrespective of me overclocking or not.

I think I'll have to live with it till a new bios fixes it.

@sidhu, need to spread some reps

edit: can i flash my P35 neo3 with P35 Platinum bios?
