I recently got a third party replacement battery via Amazon.in for my sisters 10 year old Acer Travelmate 4002WCLi laptop.

The problem is that while the battery gets charged to 100% (as per the Windows 7 indicator), as soon as the charger is switched off, its just powers off. The battery is not discharging for some reason.

Exilient support were very quick to respond to my queries, but they were really not much help and they ended up saying that the laptop might be at fault.

As the battery is charging (at least as per the software indicator), I am skeptical that its the hardware at fault.

Can this be software/driver issue by any chance? I know that widows does have some control over the charge/discharge process.
