Both your lenses are IS, do you really need a tripod? If you are new to photography, try using your camera and lenses and see if you really need it.
People over the net suggest NOT buying cheap tripods and get better ones instead.
I use the 500D and it gets a bit cumbersome (due to small size) with long periods of usage; the small finger hurts sometimes. I would suggest a battery grip for better ergonomics.
