Advice regarding Broadband Services

Need some advice from you ppl...

I reside in Phase 5, Mohali and was earlier using a Sify 256kbps Night Unlimited connection. Recently shifted my home to Phase 3B2 and in the process the CTO has changed. The new CTO in this area is again asking for installation charges of 2500/- for giving the connection here. The sify people cannot help in this regard. So I thought, what the hell, if i have to pay again, then let me change the service itself (Though the speeds with Sify were either equal or better than the promiced speeds) . I am looking for alternatives which give me unlimited (no data caps) connection at least during the night and allows me to use P2P Software (Azeureus) . We have Airtel and Tata Indicomm services available here. Tata plans are too costly. Airtel has a Home999 plan which looks good to me. If any one using this plan, Whats the speeds like and are there any hidden charges and Whats the Intial installation charges and Deposits for Airtel?

I dont know the marketing speak for it.... but if this Home999 is 999/- for 256 kbps, unlimited downloads, then go for it with eyes closed.

You will soon be swamped by Airtel users posting in this thread praising Airtel!!! I am one of them :P

The service is simpoly superb and downtimes are ZERO. Speed is not as good as the BSNL broadband(BSNL users get upto 35-36kBps). But Airtel gives 27-28 consistently.

And there are absolutely no downtimes.

I know I sound like I work for AIrtel but I dont and no one I know works in airtel either :P

It is just that Airtel is the best out there..
 
Installation charge must be 2K which includes refundable security charges of 1.5K.
Go airtel for consistent speeds and zero downtimes.
