hey guys I am getting NI Adam LCD 3g (used 4 months & in great condition) for 18k, please advice me is it worth?? I have to finalize the deal before Friday, suggestions appreciated,
Thank you

The brand new one cost anywhere from 25-30K (according to websites) So 18k seems okay. At the moment Samsung Galaxy Tab P100 (7 inch) is sold at that price range for a used one. So you won't go wrong with spending 18k on a NI tablet which is 3g, dual core tegra A9 processor, dual camera with swivel camera on the back, Honeycomb operating system and much more. Just make sure if the tablet is in excellent condition for the price. I think it is worth to buy the Tablet.

Here's the review taken from a blog:

"Pros:

-The hardware is really good. Running the custom ROM from StephenH a lot has improved.
-The build is very strong, much better than I had hoped for and excellent for the price range.
-The touch implementation is the best I have seen beside my iPhone, its comparable.
-The cpu is a godsend, its fast, gfx are handled beautifully, lag is practically non existent, video is smoothe.
-Flash works so good. Way smoother than my netbook.

Cons:

-Software. Most software is designed with phones in mind so it is not great on a tablet. The NI apps suck although they are optimized for tabs.
-O/S The kernel from NI is crap. StephenH has done a good job but still the NI kernel is garbage.

Conclusions:

The NI ADAM is quite frankly everything and more hardware wise. It is splendid device, the touch is great and i can even write a full review on it. The LCD looks great. The software and operating system is the big issue. This is to be expected as Android is not ready for tablets yet. When the next release comes to the Adam the device will be a lot more enjoyable. Ni needs to fix the sleep glitch and some other minor glitches in the OS KERNEL.

I think the Adam is low priced and a great device, i simcerely feel once some software updates are released, a lot will get better"

If you dont have use of the 3G, get the transformer or acer iconia A500 from US via ICC or ship n shop.
People on this forum have managed to get transformer for 21K total.

The official HC support is important, with NI, honeycomb is still not officially available.
As with my viewsonic Gtablet, the number of ROMs for HC is amazing but its still not perfect.

For 15K, Adam is not a bad tablet to buy.

Here are the specs if you want to compare them side by side:

Compare Acer Mobile Iconia Tab A500 vs Notion Ink Adam Tablet vs Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101

There is not a major difference in Processor/GPU/RAM between these models
A500 has Dual-core 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 proccessor, ULP GeForce GPU, Tegra 2 T20 chipset. 1GB DDR2 RAM
Asus Transformer has Dual-core 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 proccessor, ULP GeForce GPU, Tegra 2 T20 chipset, 1GB RAM
Adam 3g has Nvidia Tegra 250, 1GHz Dual Core Cortex A-9, Nvidia Geforce ULP GPU, LP-DDR2/DDR2 667MHz 1GB RAM
Spec wise it is A500 > Adam 3g > Transformer

A500 is absolutely superior to Adam. But Adam is no slouch either with dual core processor and possible upgrade to Honeycomb. Look at the specs and see if it fits your requirements. The price is not bad either for Adam IMHO.

I had the adam till last week. It literally had very very narrow viewing angle in landscape and more miserable in portrait, i couldn't live with it and sold it off. So, my advise is, if possible try the adam first and if you are satisfied with the display, then go ahead.

@op

I have adam pqi 3g version. The question to be asked is what are your needs. If you want to watch movies play games then adam is not for you.If you are into reading then adam is the one for you. Some points to keep in mind. The ni rom is crap.Notion ink support is laughable.Mr Rohan has a very big mouth and shoots it off in all directions. He is talking about adam 2 and in the meantime he does not have anything to offer for current adam owners. So the support is almost nonexistant.forget the camera, the gps none of these work.

The advantages are

Notion ink has a great community and if it were not for the tabletrom community then adam would be worse than the cheap chinese tablets.

Second the adam in potrait mode is good for reading as you can comfortably hold it.

Third you have the pqi screen which is comparable to eink but not so good as eink.so you have the choice of two screens one is pqi one and another is lcd.

so decide what are your needs and then go for it.

hope it helps.
