Hi guys,
first thank you for your suggestions. Got a Nokia E-6. Wonderful phone. But before i could put it to proper use, it was taken off my hands by my sister. :(

The replacement would not be in that range. I am looking at the 10K range.
My concerns are
1) QWERTY physical pad
2) Major use would be mails & messaging
3) Not a BB
4) Not too particular about the camera
5) Robust
6) E6 felt great to hold. something that could feel that way.

I checked the nokia e-5, great phone. But planning to taste the Android waters. Never owned one. Few adviced me a Samsung Galaxy Pro. But i am not convinced it is that good. I dont even have an idea of all those QWERTY phones in that price range, let alone Android ones. I'm already in half a mind to pick the E-5.

Do I? or any other phone that i should check?

Here are the Android phones that have Qwerty keypad and also within your 10k budget.

1) Motorola Charm
Specs - Motorola CHARM - Full phone specifications
Price - Rs 7748
Main Advantages - LCD Capacitive screen 256k colors, WiFi b/g/n, 3.15 MP Camera, Android 2.1, 600 MHZ A8 processor plus decent GPU (Powervr SGX 530), 512MB RAM, 512 MB ROM, Touch and keypad, HSDPA/HSUPA, FM Radio

2) Motorola Flipout
Specs - Motorola FlipOut - Full phone specifications
Price - Rs 8499
Main selling points - LCD Capacitive screen 256k colors, WiFi b/g/n, 3.15 MP Camera, Android 2.1, 600 MHZ A8 processor plus decent GPU (Powervr SGX 530), 512MB RAM, Touch and keypad, HSDPA/HSUPA, FM Radio

3) Samsung Galaxy 551
Specs - Samsung Galaxy 551 - Full phone specifications
Price - Rs 10,989
Main Advantages - Bigger screen at 3.2 inches, 16K colors more vibrant, Slide out Qwerty keypad, Decent cpu and gpu rated at 600 Mhz with Adrenos 200 GPU, Android 2.2, WiFi b/g/n, WiFi Hotspot, DLNA, FM Radio etc. Also Decent camera rated at 3.15 MP

Now you will also not go wrong with Nokia E5 as it has better camera 5 MP, better 3G speeds of 10.2 Mbps compared to 7.2 Mbps found in Android devices I have mentioned above. But other wise it is pretty much equal. You can choose android over nokia if apps is something that interests you as Android has lots of apps.

Hey thanks.
Galaxy 551 looks good. And are these phones upgradable to Honeycomb or Gingerbread? I also looked upon the Nokia C6. Any idea about that. Looks like i will pick up the 551

Galaxy 551 cannot be upgraded to Gingerbread since it has only 600 Mhz processor. I believe only phones with 800 Mhz or higher can be upgraded to Gingerbread. Also Honeycomb is only for Tablets.

Honestly while Nokia C6 is good, but Galaxy 551 is better. Because you have Android 2.2, decent camera, good screen, WiFi tethering and Hotspot, WiFi b/g/n and DLNA. So Galaxy 551 is better than Nokia C6.

Gingerbread has no restriction in terms of processor speed. If a phone can run Froyo, it CAN run Gingerbread.

The Galaxy 551 has a very slim chance of receiving a GB update since even higher end phones such as Galaxy SL haven't received it yet. The Galaxy 551 is the best you can get in this budget on the Android side of things. Also, I would advise against the C6, the E5 is a better option.

@pageisgod85:

You are right. HTC Wildfire S has the gingerbread and has only 600 MHz processor.

@ravi.r.raj

Sorry for my misinformation that "only phones with 800 mhz or higher can get upgraded to Gingerbread"

does that mean Android may probably ignore the QWERTY market & stick to tablets.

No, you misread my post. Android will not ignore as they have two kinds of market - Smartphones and Tablet. In the past they had different OS for Tablets (Honeycomb 3.0.X) and Smartphones (Gingerbread 2.3.X)

To avoid confusion in OS names, they are planning to bring ICS (Ice cream sandwich) which will be released for both smartphones and Tablets. Of course, they will be optimized differently but the OS will be the same. Just like how Apple has iOS OS for both Iphone and Ipad. So an uniform OS that is optimized differently for Tablets and smartphones would be easier from consumer's standpoint.

But I honestly do not know if Galaxy 551 would even recieve Gingerbread let alone ICS. So if this interests you, then waiting would be a better option. Else Galaxy 551 seems to be better to fit your requirements.
