Yah was just looking at one of the threads on r/aviation. Apparently it was an 11 year old Dreamliner that got to about 6-700 feet before crashing into the BJMC campus hostel. 242 people on board. Nothing about people in the building. Very sad.
Double engine failure is r/aviation speculation. But strictly speculation. Nothing official other than DGCA statement which says there was a mayday call from the plane and that it crashed immediately after takeoff.
Other than grievances and dip in share prices of other airlines from official channels, no cause behind the tragedy or number of casualties have been reported, as of now.

Very sad. It gained about 625 feet before losing altitude. Tough situation this, committed to take off > engine gives up (speculated) > no chance to turn around + dump fuel and out of runway.

These videos on reddit are terrifying. Do not click if you are sensitive to such things. Just absolutely heart-breaking as well as fear inducing. My brother had a flight this evening from this same airport. It cancelled now, but the thought of what if just doesn't go away.

not a bird strike, engines would have been smoking, RAT was deployed (you can hear it in one of the videos), so both engines just stalled out? dunno, dreamliner is a modern craft, it's almost impossible to stall out both engines because of how many redundancies are built in
yep, accidentally watched a NSFL video, still cant get it out of my head
a nothing burger, this shameless asshole is just trying to milk the tragedy for his views, he "noticed" a touch screen on the seat not being responsive, flight in the terminal not having AC.

I feel like a few KMs long strip of space in front of takeoff strip would have saved this airplane. Isn't takeoff and landing the two most dangerous parts of flight journey? At least that's what I remember.
Boeing also doesn't have a good reputation anymore as they once had. This whole situation sucks and my condolences to the families of those who passed away.
nope, it would have still crashed, only thing would have been maybe some people would have survived if they were extremely lucky
Boeing has had quality issues over the last few years. This particular Dreamliner was manufactured in 2011, and AI took delivery of it in 2013, IIRC. I suspect maybe poor aircraft maintenance on AI's end, and the overload of fuel just served as a catalyst?
News going about suggests all 242 passengers have perished.
I hope not.
