I noticed you can edit your posts only for a short period after which the option is disabled. This includes the first post if you are the thread starter. To update you need to ask a mod which is tedious. Can you make it such that a thread started can always/indefinitely edit the first post/title so that they can update it themselves?

I usually need to collect interesting bits/links from new posts and include them in the first post since its very hard to read through many pages to find anything of interest. Search is no help because you don't know what is the interesting bit of info inside the thread in the first place :)

Don't follow this part ?

For example, in the open source section there's a trend of usually starting an "xyz discussion thread" (to avoid multiple threads for topic xyz) some posts are random chats while a few contain interesting news/developments/information/links which get buried in the many number of pages... its then useful to copy those few interesting bits to the first post for later reference or for someone who comes along later and has no time to browse all pages... need to PM a mod for updates to the first post right now...

IIRC, unlimited edits had been enabled a while back for non newbies ( i recall i was able to).

wonder if they got rolled back with the upgrade

Hmm, yes thats what i was thinking too, after we pushed to have editable posts :)

Maybe some bugs are lurking.

Either way can some of the mods chime in on this ?

Right, if not possible to allow just first post to be edited, then rather allow all your posts to be edited indefinitely, since it was enabled before apparently.

Another request: Auto merge multiple consecutive posts by the same person into a single one for those lazy/careless not to edit posts themselves? :)
