PC Peripherals ALTEC LANSING VS4121 or VS4621 - IS IT BEST BUY ? URGENT PLZ

Hello guys, recently came across the vs4121 and most of the reviews say that it is one among the best speakers available in the world in the 2.1 range. But this speakers has been EOLed (i think) and the latest vs4621 is not upto the mark as per the AL website review.

So i have made up my mind to get these speakers. I think delta peripherals have stock of these.. Guys is it better to get it ?.

I heard that it lacks mid-range sound. DOnt understand what it means. I enjoy crisp sound and distortion free, non-boomy bass in gaming as well as songs. So long have been using intex 2.1 speakers and they have served me well for around 3 yrs.

Is this a good buy ?. Please suggest and tell me the pros and cons of both the 4121 and 4621 guys...

What it matters for the 4621 is the hole and the round thing in the woofer is situated on the right side and this position is not suitable for placing the woofer in west-east direction.
On the other hand in the 4121, the hole is in the front, but for 4621 it is on the side.

Plz suggest guys, very urgent....

I have the VS4121, and its way too overrated. Infact I preferred my older cheaper Artis 2.1 speakers (forget the model number). The VS4121 was supposed to be a replacement for the ATP 3 but it's nowhere close to the ATP3. If you can afford/find MX5021 get those, they are leagues better.

I think the altec lansing speakers need a discrete sound card to actually produce better sound. I remember sato1986 saying something like that.

I suggest in that case to just sample the speakers, I feel the Artis 2.1 speakers below 3k would be a better bet. The bass of 4121 is very boomy (it's ok if you are listening to trance or electronic music) but ruins movie experience completely (you keep hearing the low frequency boom effect). Infact I always completely switch off bass when watching movies. Go for the speakers where the bass is tighter.

its true about the bass. I have these and problem is the mid-tones do not come out so great compared to the lower range sound. bass is quite high - i mean you can hear the rumbling of background in movies if the speaker is set to around 11'o clock position. compared to intex speakers this would be a good upgrade. another con is the speakers tend to make a weird noise when the bass knob is turned all the way down to lowest setting.

i suggest buy from where you can listen to the speakers for a bit.

thanx a lot guys....

i am chennai. Cud you plz tell me where in chennai i can get the artis 2.1 spkr. Will it offer tight bass ?. Never heard about such a brand. And also plz do provide me the model number of that 3k one....

I find two models in their website, mit201 and mit220, but i dont find any 2.1 models in that price range....

Hmmm. it seems that al is not the best suitable speaker as it lacks tight bass...

How about the vs2621 guys ?

Dont ever get a VS4621 , the shopkeeper will try to sell it to you since he gets more margin from them , get the vs4121 , they are way better . I returned the vs4621 and got vs4121 for my office pc . I used intex 2.1 speakers earlier . You wont find much of a difference in sound clearity but there would definately be a increase in the overall quality and a bass boost for gaming .
If you can increase your budget then get Mx5021 or the edifier C3 or C5 .

Sorry for forgetting to mention my budget. Strictly within 3k. Now i dropped the idea of going for AL 4121 (anyway its EOLed and isnt available anywhere atleast in my region) and as i thought, the 4621 is shit...

what about mitashi, mitsun and iball speakers guys ?. When it comes to mitsun - it is mit250, and iball there is a model tarang 2.1. WHat about this speaker guys ?

phooo !!!. Its very hard to choose the right speakers unlike pc components. There are plenty of them and cant decide. Please help guys... If any wrong decision is made, then i will have to face some serious consequences..

mitashi, mitsun , iball , intex are all same . If you have used intex 2.1 or 5.1 before then you wont feel like an upgrade . I still believe VS4121 are best in below 3k range even if thy are not available . Increase your budget a little if you want to experience some upgrade over the last speakers .

Increase my budget on what ?. The 4621 is shit as i said earlier and the creative ones are not good as before. Now how about AL VS2621. Some reviews say it is better. But still i am confused.. Is it possible to get an artis 2.1 in Chennai ?. If so which model, which shop and whats the price.

Yesterday saw an edifier m3200 in a shop. The price is also <3k but reviews are horrible. So dropped that idea. Which edifier is the best one <3k range ?

If you still have the intex 2.1 speakers with you then use them till you manage to increase your budget upto 4.5-5k . As said before you wont experience a huge upgrade with any sub 3K speakers . If there isnt any option then i will say that u should try to find a vs4121 , since i have used only them and not the vs2621 . I have also listned to Edifier C2 and they were good but they cost around 4k .

the problem is not an upgrade but to maintain the present sq which i get from my old intex speakers... The left channel has a low volume when compared to the right channel. Is it possible to get this issue corrected in the intex service center or theyll make it even worse ?

I was in the same confusion as like u now :D, i've heard both 4121 and 2621 then i decided not to buy any of them 4121 got really boomy bass and 2621 has pretty tight compared to 4121 but im not convinced since im not a fan of boomy bass really, then i heard about Creative T3200 seriously the bass is pretty tight and its clarity is way better than the altec offerings but price is still high 3.6k but u may feel lack of bass punch at high volumes like 75% but will never go over 40% because these are too loud for me:D

just take my suggestion as pinch of salt:D. Look out for other brand offerings u might get much better speaker @ that price range.

A friend of mine bought the iball tarang 2.1 and believe me, its superb. As for now i am going to stick with my intex 2.1 speakers as they are still better than the iball tarang...

i replaced my 5yr long mercury 2.1 which were perfect for my bass/treble comfort with vs4121 2yrs back.

4121 is descent all in aspects except it is too bassy when viewing movies so i have too adjust the bass to just 1 which actually does justice to whole scene. coz my pc room size is average. but when i tested the same in my big hall with default bass, i would say it was amazing cinema expo.

It depends on lot of factors like your room size, woofer placement, some basic tunings etc. to actually get that preferred sound.
