Alternatives to Giga MA785GM-US2H & Antec 300.

Cousin has a chance to upgrade to A II X3 440/435.

He has 4GB DDR2, if MA785GM-US2H is not available, what ?

Ditto for Antec 300.

PS : He has a 4850 so no real need for IGP.
Would prefer Giga/MSI/Asus (?)

Get a Giga 740G if the 785G is unavailable. It would be cheaper and would suffice for a X3.

The mobo is listed in TheITWares. I am assuming u are gonna buy them in Mumbai. Better PM Rahul before hand then.

If Antec 300 is not present try the NZXT Gamma. Its a great VFM case for ~2.1k

Other option is CM Gladiator 600 ~ 3.5k

P.S: If u are ok with Biostar(although its not in the preference) you can consider the Biostar A785GE ~ 3.3k or the Biostar A780L ~ 2.7k

Got X3 & 785. Unlocked to X4 635/B35. No L3. Flashed BIOS F11.

After system assembled would not come on. Antec 300 does not have a case speaker/beeper ( don't remember any review mentioning this ), spent some time trying to find the speaker wire/connector before searching the internet for the missing speaker prob. I thought I got a freak cabby. Then the really bad part. Had to detach each peripheral, memory stick, graphics card to see what was causing the prob. After about two hours found that the case wire marked Reset SW was actually connected to the Power Button and the wire marked Power SW was connected to the Reset Button ! WTF Antec ?!!!

Bad quality control :( But the Cabinet is a solid one. But isnt a 3.5k+ worth cabby slightly overkill for this rig?

just wondering how does biostar mobos fare agains gigabyte ones

is it advisable to go for biostar if it provides better features at lesser price point than gigabyte?

or is gigabyte the way to go(below 4.5k)?

did your cpu produce more heat than before after unlocking the fourth core?

please provide the idle and load temps and power consumption!!

are you keeping your cpu in unlocked state all the time or are you revering it back to normal when not gaming??
 
@DA : He had a NSK4400, the 4850 was (almost) touching the HDDs. They needed a comp for their shop, so NSK went to the shop. He wanted a good cab, liked the 300 looks. He upgrades quite often too.

@ FS : It's my cousin's system, he lives quite far away. Next time I'm there I'll get the screen shots.
Yest while I was there, neither CoreTemp latest 64 bit, not HWMonitor seemed to show right core temp. I left around 11pm, no time to really check out the system.
Was Prime95 stable for 1 hour with all 4 cores. I don't know if he will run it as X3 or X4 - he was quite excited to get a quad.
