unlike Amazon outside india, .in do not provide any buy back/20% discount on next amazon item.
but they suggested me its likely a software issue and get it serviced via this - https://amazonoow.ctdi.co.in/
i don't have much hope, as i guess they will charge a bomb to fix it.
wil keep this post updated of any further development.

In case CTDI gives you an exorbitant quote, can you ship the device to me so that I can take a "deep" look and perform some recovery methods?

It won't make sense for them to quote exorbitant amount unless amazon wants you to buy a new device anyway...
In your case let's say the NAND is dead, the only way out is a whole board replacement since re-balling a new NAND is neither feasible nor practical to do on such a device.
If it's just a software issue maybe there are hidden recovery/flashing methods and this should be cheaper.
