CPU/Mobo AMD equivalent of G3220+B85 ?

If I'm not mistaken, AMD provides Windows XP drivers for the current AMD proc+chipsets.

Someone I know has to continue using XP ( has licensed s/w and too difficult to migrate to 7/8 ). The system they have now is 5 years old, they want to upgrade before the mobo fails.

What is the best VFM budget AMD setup ?

Only the Socket AM3 platform (and maybe some of the older A-series APUs) seem to have XP support.

So G2030 + B75 is the best option ?

A small correction. Even the low power Socket AM1 platform has XP supported drivers - but only available from the mobo manufacturer's site.
The AM1 Athlons however are a bit underpowered compared to the Pentiums, so you need to find out how resource heavy the app is. There's also a bit of a performance gap in the product range, with the only processor above the AM1 Athlons being the more pricey AM3 FX4xxx series.

Since B75 boards have XP supported drivers, I guess the G2030 + B75 would still be the best option.

Has your friend tried running the app in Win 7 or tried compatibility mode or contacted the developer for an updated version?

The PC acts as a 'server' for their shop ( just two terminals ). Too much work (and risk) migrating to 7/8. G2030 + B75 should do.

btw : for any one (still) having to replace mobo on a XP system and not wanting to reinstall Windows XP, this works ( done it thrice ) :
