amd was not always good.
you are talking about time when amd processors lagged in perfomance behind
intel miserably.
i had intel 1.7 ghz processor and it could beat amd athlon 3200+ easily.
as when i used to do video editing on amd i used to get missed frames
and stuttering sound which used to be out sync.
amd good for only child stuff like gamers.
when ever multithreaded programs run on amd it starts to perform very bad.
benchmarks dont tell the real story.
when the cpu is on heavy load that tells the real picture.
when we run discrete smoke on dual xeon system ibm make 3,2 ghz it runs smooth.
same system on dual opteron 275
freezes many times .
but all the benchmark say that opteron
275 will perform 40% better.
its not the benchmarks but real life testing
with your applications which make clear the point which cpu is better for u.
amd is mostly found good for gaming where economy is a big issue and reliablity can be compromoised not for professional work.
What more can I say!
