Hi
I recently went to Nehru Place and found a laptop from Asus which is very reasonably priced @ Rs 32.5k.
The config was:
AMD RM75 (2.2GHz) processor
DOS
ATI 4570 512MB
14.0" LED Display
4GB DDR2
320GB 5400rpm HDD
8x DVD writer
WLAN 802.11b/g/n
1.3MP camera
6 cell battery
2yr global warranty & 1yr for battery

Are AMD processor good for laptops? What you think about it and this config?

AMD is definitely not upto the mark in mobile computing

they are fire breathing dragons, they get hot easily

but the turion II series are said to go a bit cooler than their predecessors (not as cool as intel)

most of the laptop sales in the world are with the intel processors

i didnt have any personal experience with an amd mobile proccy
but this is wat goes around:huh:

beside the heating issues even their performance su***
check this
Notebookcheck: Mobile Processors - Benchmarklist
anyway they are available for the price for what they perform :hap2:

amd m500 is a good proccy which is similar to the intel t6600.

However rm75 doesnt stand that much to intel.

You havent mentioned your purpose of the laptop. Just mentioning the price/specs doesnt do much.

If you have cpu intensive requirements, you are in for a shock. RM 75 isnt a very powerful cpu.

~just my 2 cents~

Lolz M500 is no where comparable with C2D T6600:bleh::bleh:

there is a lot of difference between those two processors

a T6600 has a super pi 1M Calculation in around 24 sec

whereas a M500 is some where around 35 sec

it is even slower than a pentium dualcore T4300:tongue:

nah. I won't recommend Turion RM75. Better go for Dell Inspiron that comes with T6600 unless you do a lot of virtualization, for which AMD is better bet.

And yes, Turion II X2 is lot better.

well, m500 isnt the amd equivalent of t6600.

It is AMD's offering to t6600. similar categories. :)

of course, the t6600 does beat it.

I'll use for gaming, watching HD movies and document work.

Even for a diehard AMD fanboy like me - I'd personally look at the Intel solutions over AMD for portables. They're cooler and quicker, and if you get one with a discrete graphics solution and dedicated memory, quite usable as a desktop replacement.
