In a major reorganisation at Mountain View, Google CEO Larry Page has decided to transfer control of some of the biggest Google properties to Sundar Pichai. Pichai currently leads Android, Chrome and Google Apps teams, however after the latest leadership change, he will also oversee Google Search, Google Plus, Maps, Commerce, Research, Ad products and infrastructure.
According to Re/Code, Page was reportedly flooded with reports and duties related to different Google units as the unit heads were directly reporting to him until now. This will change with Pichai becoming the go-to-guy for the aforementioned units, giving time for Larry Page to focus properly on new and existing products. He, however, will still continue be the big boss and will directly manage business and operations for all Google units.

Sundar Pichai will now have control of Google’s most consumer and business-facing products apart from YouTube, as Susan Wojcicki, who currently heads the video giant, will continue to directly report to Page.

To remind you, Sundar Pichai was born in Chennai in 1972 and has attended IIT Kharagpur, Stanford University & Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Before joining Google in 2004, he was associated with Applied Materials and McKinsey & Co.
