Audio Any Klipsch S4/S2 owners ?

They say the best way to choose an iem is to audition it.Since that doesnt seem to work out I thought I'll ask somebody who owns one and comapare it to the others he has or has heard..I willl really have to stretch to get the S4 since its about 3700 bucks. I need to now is it actually twice as better than the NE 6 or, Hippo Vb or RE 2, which are the other options I have and seem to be in budget. I hate boomy bass, but LOVE deep penetrating clear bass, the kinds you get from a neat headphone like PX 200/PXC 150..Also the acoustics and the mids need to have sweet definition.Recently bought the E5 with the L1 , just to enhance the bose experience since my source is the Ipod. Please help !

klipsch owner, but unfortunately i have never heard the ne6, re2 or hippos.

The s4's imo has deep bass and what i really like about them is the sheer sound clarity even though the bass is heavy.. I own a cx-500 too which i believe is even more expensive, but i prefer the s4's to them. with the s4'ss u wont need amping at all..

Where there is a clear difference between the s4 and the cx-500 in terms of sq is that the s4 are much brighter and more in d face whilst the 500's r a bit laid back comparatively. You should take a que from this in terms of your initial preference, as to do you prefer brighter or more detailed laidback iems..

S4 owner here as well.. though haven't heard the others mentioned.. now where is that Fah33m biatch when u need him the most..

I have a Klipsch S4i and the earphones are brilliant. Way better sounding than the other ones. The only complain is that the bass isnt loud enough. I have used the sennheiser CX300 before and they were really nice too

Faheem hasn heard the Klipsch too.If only somebody could compare it to something cheaper than the S4 :(.After all the reviews and everything I dont doubt the bass and clarity ob S4, what I doubt is , is it twice as good as the price for the NE 6 or Re2 or S@ for that matter. There are hardly any decent reviews for the S2 but somehow I'm more inclined to them than to the RE 2.Also buygamingstuff is offereing the NE 6 for a very nice price , Half of the S4 and the earpiec has been very well rated ! Confusion confusion :(

^ I feel most people would like S4 better than RE0. Let me know when you guys audition it too. :p I'm sure though, both you and I won't like S4 over an RE0 since we don't like a lot of bass.

@OP - I haven't heard the S4 myself. But from what I have read all around, Klipsch S4 are one of the best IEMs in it's range and if you are looking for bass, then these would go perfectly.

I don't think it's fair to say if an IEM costs twice it should sound twice as better. Sound is very subjective and someone may like something which is trash to another.

What I do know is that both RE2 (since you have E5) and S4 are very VFM in their respective price ranges and you won't go wrong with either of them. You will just have to pick your budget and choose.

How would you describe the S4 sound ?

So do you think the RE2 + E5 will be atleast 85% of what the S4 will be ? And isnt S2 a better option since people often say they arent too far behind the S4 !And it cost a tad more than the RE 2.

Bro, it doesn't work that way... The s4's are loud and very clear to put it in absolute layman terms.. Though its bright in its SS. its not harsh at all which clearly indicated that its a quality product/ I have heard the pl-30 and pl-50 which my bro owns, but at high volumes they start hurting my ear over a period of say half an hr. Never experienced that prob with the s4's or the cx-500's.

Go s4, not s2. Its close but the difference is noticeable and if its noticeable, i guess it aint that close right??? :)

BTW an OPEN QUESTION TO EVERYONE HERE...

HOW WOULD YOU RATE THE PL-50 VIS A VIS THE RE-2????? SQ DIFFERENCE, BASS, MID'S, HIGH'S ETC

To my ears, re2 has got better highs, and re2 amped with FIIO E5 has got better bass. PL50 has got great mids and actually I prefer pl50 to re0 for vocals. :)

^ I've been trying to suggest him a lot of IEMs based on his budget and requirements but that poor guy seems to be completely confused with his purchase. Can't blame him ,it's difficult to purchase without knowing what it's going to sound like.

Regarding PL-50 vs RE-2. They both are almost on the same level with one or the other superior in each department.

RE-2 has an excellently detailed forward midrange which is better than PL-50s IMO .PL-50s midrange is lot more smoother and lush like the PL-30s but with good detailing. The treble extension on the PL-50 is slightly better than the RE-2. Bass department both are equally good.RE-2s bass is slightly lose whereas PL-50s more punchy and tighter.

Soundstage PL-50 wins by a huge margin not just over RE-2 but almost every other sub 100$ IEMs. The Soundstage is slightly artificial 3D like but its makes the sound signature lot more fun and musical.

RE-2s are easy to wear and most people don't have fit issues whereas the PL-50's design make them a double edge sword. Some never are able to get a proper fit and sound whereas some find them extremely comfortable ;).

Are you serious? :S The primary reason I don't like PL-50 is because they don't have highs like my RE2. And of course the midrange is more detailed on RE2. :D

@OP- Where are you from? See if you can find anyone with any of these IEMs in your city so you can listen to them and decide. I agree it really gets confusing, sometimes even after listening to them!

I feel you would be very happy with the Klipsch S4. If you can spend that much, it is one of the best choices.

If you wanna stick to lower budget, go for RE2 with E5 or a PL50. Suggesting these over NE6 since availability of NE6 is an issue.

^ Yeah ..the treble on the PL-50 is slightly more detailed than RE-2.Also its a bit less bright/sparky compared to RE2. IMO both are on par in terms of overall sound , it's just a matter of personal taste ;).

Highs and treble are really not my thing, deep vibrating bass with above average clarity and soundstage is..In which case the RE 2 would not be a better choice than the S4/S2.I'm thinking I'll narrow it down to 3, NE 6,if the stocks arrive in the next 2-3 days, S2 , cause its about 2200 bucks and not too far behind the S4 with emphasis on bass, and then obviously if I decide to go the extra mile, S4 it is. Comments ?

I would say of all the 3 S4 is ofcourse the best :). NE-6 I can say only after I try it out . Now only if the M2s were easily available in India .They outperform every other 50-70$ IEMs.

I wouldnt go for the M2, they lookugly to me :p Klipsch look so sexy ! :p Any specific reason for rejecting the S2 ?

I guess the S4 it is then ! All you buggers better be true man ! :p It's a preet darnbig leap from the crappy PL 30 ! I dont think even my E 5 would be of any use with the S4 now , but that we'll figure later .Anybody who has had experience in ordering the Klipsch from praashant/Intencity ??

Quite a few people have ordered S4 from him without any hassles and ofcourse many have ordered other stuff from him, so no worries there. :)

I think it's also available locally in some stores.

Okay somy S4 arrived yesterday. And right now I can say, the Bass is outstanding but the Detailing SUCKS ! Will start the burn in today, lets hope it gets better :/
