Any working torrent site ? All my sources are dead.. need something during lockdown.

I just do site:.ru :p but it's been much time since I've used torrents.. movies are streaming now :) and books are in .ru so.. what more do you want? (porn's too gross for search but nicer stuff is available for free - just search for chick/women's porn)

Private trackers are a pain to get into anyhow.. "Oink" except they closed and became something else.. (and you need to share or they ban you and you can't cheat nowadays)
 
One of the oldest and best 0day trackers of all time has open signups atm, use code: STAYHOME while signing up. They've also gone freeleech so it's no longer a pain to maintain a ratio either, just keep the torrent active for 4 days with a U/L limit of 1 KBps if you have FUP.

That too shutdown and spawned two other sites - Orpheus and Redacted, the latter of which is the best for music atm.
You could never cheat on a decent tracker anyways, they always caught you.

I never really understood how these private trackers work, all i know are sites like 1337x rutor, rarbg. Care to explain how trackers and whatnot work to a newbie like me?

There's no difference in their functionality at all, if you've used rarbg you know how torrenting works.
The good private ones just had access to topsites providing fast access to scene releases compared to public trackers, apart from requiring invites and ratio requirements they are functionality wise pretty much the same.

Ah, so they basically have more stable ratios where everyone has to chip in as much as they download? i usually just use root.yt to access most of these websites

It's encouraged so that people don't hit and run and the file is available for a longer period. TBH private trackers started losing their charm a few years ago, music is available on spotify, movies/tv shows are available on several streaming services and games go for real cheap during Steam sales so there really isn't a reason to pirate anymore unless you're looking for older or obscure stuff that isn't available anywhere.
 
I have an ipTorrents account which I have not used for almost 2-3 years now. Private trackers are not really needed for the stuff I consume most of which can be found on Prime, Netflix, yts and psarips.

As for other stuff there's ettv, rarbg, prostylex, glodls and 1337x. My Raspberry pi runs off the rss feed of these sites to download stuff automatically.

The Pi runs on a NordVPN connection which I got for 100 USD or so for 3 years but my file server PC uses goodbyedpi set up using this approach-

I get better P2P speeds on NordVPN Singapore servers compared to goodbyedpi which I guess cannot protect me from the ISP blocking connections to trackers.

Well.. they usually have a website and a IRC channel and you got to know someone who'll give you an invite to register on their page. Then you use their-private-tracker-torrent server to access the peer/ip list of people seeding/downloadinh whatever torrent. Once your client has the peer list it can download bits of the torrent-file and check/hash/verify each segment.

Your client reports how much is being downloaded/uploaded so.. people could fake those values.. and send whatever giagantic upload-value.. but recollect the tracker is the one giving you the list and other people are sending in their figures so statistically they can catch the faker.
