PC Peripherals APC UPS Internal circuit connection

I am using a APC UPS BI850SINE for the last 1 year. When I checked the box, I see Red and Black (Positive and Negative) terminal cables from battery are connected in an unexpected way inside the UPS. The Red cable from the Battery (which is connected to Positive terminal of the Battery) is connected on a heat sink ensclosure on the PCB inside the UPS. Where as the black cable (Negative from Battery) is pass through Battery fuse assembly and connected to "Batt VE" connectors on the PCB.
As per my knowledge, this could be a reverse connection ( a mistake perhaps?)
Or is this the way it should be connected. Looks like Battery positive goes to ground and Negative goes to power up the UPS.
Any idea ? The fact is the UPS works without any issues so far. :)

No idea about the technical details you posted. Been using APC UPS's since 2000 and all I will say is - "If it ain't broke don't fix it"... :)
