Apple may finally be bringing legitimate multitasking to the iPad. The well-connected Mark Gurman of 9to5Mac is reporting that starting with iOS 8, users will be able to run two apps simultaneously on the tablet's screen. For years, iOS has allowed only one app to be displayed on screen at any given time. Apple's competitors including Samsung and Microsoft have latched onto this restriction and repeatedly bashed the company for adhering to the rule for so long, particularly with the 9.7 inches of screen real estate offered by the iPad.

I could recollect well the advertisements which Microsoft was making for their Surface Tab against iPads. Now they can not mock Apple on this, atleast :P

Split screen multitasking may not have picked up yet as we are slaves of our own habits but I have found it very useful on so many occasions when working on multiple documents or webpages simultaneously. Good that they are bringing it to the iOS finally.

With Office downloads in volumes of north to 25 Million is few weeks, I believe people will welcome this one too. Though I never felt to have it during period in which I had iPad but if looked at more productive angle, this is welcome one. Let see how they actually implement it - with what if...then :P
