I saw some one post short links to Amazon with their referral id put in between. Is there or was there a rule forbidding such links and what do we do if we find such links? Report the post? Do those posts actually break any rule?

I've seen other members tell people not to put their referral links a lot of times in the few years I've been here but never saw such a rule.

Was there a rules list or something here which we link to to educate the newcomers?

IIRC, we did discourage referral links. Not sure if we had any written rule like that, and I don't think the rules page is available after the migration to Xenforo.

not a rule but it is discouraged as I remember ...

Just want to point out that just because there is a "ref" tag in the Amazon link doesn't mean that it's an affiliate referral link.

For instance, I just looked up a fridge and this is what my URL looks like, even though I'm not an affliate:
https://www.amazon.in/LG-Refrigerator-GL-B201ASPY-ASPZEBN-Plumeria-Compressor/dp/B079QP11T3/ref=XXXXXXXXXX

Ideally, all links should be posted with just their ASIN codes like this:

Of course, this is not ideal for everyday situations.
