Are they allowed to cap your Nic's ?

I dunno how it does this, but 24online shitz has actually capped my NIC connections at 64 kbps speeds !!!

Yesterday the net was down, so decided to take some stuff from my neighbour who is on the same hub. This is what we did without any sucess.

1. Went to terrace and physically removed the input connection from the hub.
2. We both uninstalled 24 online client.
3. We changed the Ip's to 192 series, and default subnet mask.
4. we were able to ping, but transfer speeds were capped at 64 kbps in dc++ as well local network neighbourhood.

So basically I cant have lan connection without formatting, are these idiots even allowed to this ?

I had a chat with Deejay he told me to reset my winsocks. Will try that next time, any other suggestions ?

@ aces_170,
The cyberoam client instals a very nasty "LSP" (Layered Service Provider) on the system. the purpose of this LSP is to intercept all the tcp/ip packets and encrypt / decrypt them as per their system algorithm. This "could" be one of the causes for this strange behavior that you were observing. hence i had suggested to you to reset your winsock catalog settings by giving you that command.

ps: There is one more command to reset your tcp/ip settings, which before i could tell you about we said our goodbyes on msn. incase you need that too kindly call me.

ps: I have one docsis capable , "COM 21" brand Cable Modem. I was using it on my in2cble system till a few months ago before i shifted to the much superior MTNL triband. if you or any of your building friends want to purchase it do let me know...i will sell it very very cheaply.
currently you are connected to a hub , which is connected to a switch, ....etc...etc...till their main servers. the cable modem will be connected directly to their servers bypassing all the hubs / switches. This will drastically lower your pings and latencies which is very good for playing online games etc....the only drawback is that you will need to get the tv cable directly to this modem instead of the lan wire connection you have currently. (IF in2cable are distributing their internet connection through tv cable in ur area)

@ aces170,
oops another error on my part ...nowhere you have mentioned that in2cable is ur isp ....but somehow i always co-relate the cyberoam /24online client software with that POS in2cable group (Hinduja bros. of Bofors Fame).
disregard my cable modem posting above .....

hi aces,

dude, firstly u wont be able to get speeds that way. the hub which is hosted in ur building terrace is connected to some switch and it could even be a manageable switch which controls the hub.

and what deejay mentioned is true:

The cyberoam client instals a very nasty "LSP" (Layered Service Provider) on the system. the purpose of this LSP is to intercept all the tcp/ip packets and encrypt / decrypt them as per their system algorithm. This "could" be one of the causes for this strange behavior that you were observing. hence i had suggested to you to reset your winsock catalog settings by giving you that command.
there is nothing u can do to get rid of this once u installed the cyberoam client. this cyberoam client is an awesomely intrusive app which should be termed as spyware by all anti-spyware and firewall vendors. this app is capable to track any activity u do on ur pc, including downloading, chatting and much more.

@aces170

Like deejay said, they install this LSP which restricts bandwidth on the client machines. They consider this their USP, and boast about it on the 24Online website.

I think that they should be systematically shot in the knee for these kind of activities.

You should do the following:

1. Uninstall the in2Cable software
2. Remove the in2cable .SYS files from the system32\drivers directory. They are the in2*.sys files
3. Resetting the TCP/IP connection using the procedure Hacker has posted

They have made another version which does not restrict the bandwidth on the client PC because the LSP was crashing the PC when used with a firewall. With this client they try to cap on the cable modem instead, and that too they have made a terrible mess of.

I forgot which one, but it is one of the two for XP located on:

In2cable Client Download

I think it's CMAA_Win2k.exe
But I think that you should throw them out of the window in the first place instead of trying to continuously make up for their inadequacies. But thats just me...

@vishalk

I agree with you that the client is the most in2rusive piece of s**t there is.

But you should take a look at the 24Online network diagrams and sales pitch from their website.

It seems that they have a web cache on the server too which allows them to see which sites you are visiting. They can filter on user and all that.

If you have a website, or a blog, sometimes small changes to that takes quite some time to appear on your browser because of this cache.

So for those in2Cable users who are on the unauthenticated plan, without a client installation, they too, can't rest easy.

I think that there should be a law against this.

Hmm thanx, am not using In2cable ISP. My ISP seems to be good, although recently been having some downtimes, its just the stupid 24 online software.

A recent update, after uninstalling the software, I dload the client frm the ISP's site, and then all hell broke loose. After using net for 1-2 hrs my onboard LAN started hanging a lot, and was actually getting BSOD's on Win XP, tried installing diff drivers but to no avail, the ISP plp said either my windows installation had got corrupt or my LAN had died. The best part was it used to work perfect in safe mode..
Turned out the client was fu...... they had a diff client for machines which had onboard lan as their normal client was unstable...

hi aces,

i think u must be using the onbaord client for igate isint it? i 2 face the same if i try using the normal client as they have certainly made changes to some registry settings in the normal client.

i think this cyberoam client should be completly banned as it is the most intrusive software as mentioned by me b4.

@Annit, they have acess to every bit u do online, sites visited, downloads done, p2p, chats, name everything.

@Aces

So I am guessing that with the installation of the new on-board LAN version of the client, the problem went away. I think that this is the same version which disables the LSP primarily, the firewall and NIC based bandwidth cap.

If you are still getting issues then you could try and still use the versions of the in2Cable clients from the in2Cable site that I mentioned. There are some 'Proxy' versions of the software, which allow you to run a proxy server etc. The LSP in that version will be very less restrictive.

1. Uninstall your own ISP software, install the in2cable client. Change the server IP in the in2Cable client to your actual server IP and see if it connects

or

2. Keep your own ISP software and change the .SYS drivers to the in2Cable ones and see if it connects. You might have to rename the .SYS drivers.

or

3. Maybe you can use the alternate cyberoam client:

LINC or slyberoam (outdated) etc.

If you can get that to work, then your problem is solved.
