Sorry to break it to you but this is an argb HUB and not controller 
....Its just a splitter that needs some input signal like from your mobo that replicates the same signal to more ports.

Probably you've got an ARGB hub, which requires input signals for ARGB controlling from another controller.
I can feel you as my b450 boards didn't have argb headers. For that I bought a Coolermaster A1 ARGB controller. One side plugs to sata power from psu, and argb devices on another side. It has a micro usb connection that goes to mobo front panel USB header, and I can controller the lighting from the coolermaster's master plus application.

Recently I've switched to b550, so got that controller up for sale. Let me know if you're interested.
