INQ:

In what may come as the most shocking news to any one who follows the computer business,it is now known for certain that ATi and Nvidia will merge into a single corporate entity by year-end.

Brian Chadderton ,a spokesman for ATi when contacted ,refused to divulge any details but confirmed that a deal was on the cards.Apparently,ATi which was very recently cursing Nvidia in public, has agreed to 45:55 equity in favor of Nvidia.(http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=20165)

Representatives of the Californian firm, when contacted were tight lipped about any plans involving their still-sworn Canadian rival.Significantly, however no one denied it outright.

Whats next?We are so surprised by this news that we would rather not speculate at this juncture, though we would advise our readers not to be surprised if something like 'Ra-force' 6900 or 'Forceon' X900 hit the shelves this christmas.

what competition?? :p if they merged, there will be no competition to kill at all......

hehe dont even joke about this .. the company would have a field day selling crap products at high prices ;)

U forgot all about XGI
XGI is the same company that attempted AFR i.e. Alternate Frame Rendering (no I am not talking SLI here but the fact they would render only 1/2 the frames!)with their first Volari series.
Is it even worth killing?

waht about INTEL and AMD......they merging too?
Thats out of the realm of possibility-both have been around for 20 years or so.
But in the graphics business ,nothing is out of the realm of possibility.
Like in 1997-98 could we imagine 3DFX being swallowed by Nvidia? :O
