This unified driver has been further enhanced to provide the highest level of power, performance, and reliability. The ATI CATALYST software suite is the ultimate in performance and stability.

Display and WDM Drivers included in this bundle.

Here are some of performance increases seen in this release:
  • 3DMark06 CPU scores improve as much as 4.9% across all product lines
  • 3DMark06 HDR 2 Deep Freeze (SM3.0) test improves as much as 2%
  • Call of Duty 2 improves approximately 1.4-2% on Radeon® X1900 and Radeon® X1800 Crossfireâ„¢ configurations. Gains are slightly less (1.3%) for non-Crossfireâ„¢ Radeon® X1900 and Radeon® X1800 products
  • FarCry improves 2-3% on ATI Radeon® X1900 non-Crossfire configurations. Greatest improvements result from tests with no AA and AF
  • Half Life 2 improves as much as 3.8% on Radeon® X1900 non-Crossfire configurations. Greatest improvements result from tests with no AA and AF
  • Unreal Tournament 2004 gains 3-5% on all Radeon® X1x00 non-Crossfire configurations

Final Thoughts

If you make your way to have a look at the full release notes from ATI, you see performance fixes and a massive list of bug fixes for some very popular games.

If you’re having trouble with your current set of drivers, it’s worth the upgrade but if you’re not having any troubles and you still find yourself playing OpenGL games you are better off sticking with your current Catalyst 6.3 drivers.

Big performance was seen last year in the two December releases so we have no doubt that ATI are more concentrated on fixing gaming problems at the moment. We don’t doubt though that we will see a performance increase in the driver set in the coming months.

I installed these, and it upped my clocks to 432/535. Now since my max safe clock on my core is around 435-438, I use ATITool to lower it to 420/535.

But why did it o/c it in the 1st place?

There's is a feature called overdrive which was first started from ATI Catalyst 3.8 drivers, whereby if the GPU core temperature was steady when operating, this overdrive feature enables the GPU to auto overclock itself to a safe extent and if it sees that the temperature increases due to this it will again automatically decrease its OC to a safe extent. this auto overclock feature doesn't void the guarantee of the card too. so it's perfectly safe zhops if u let the card remain in that auto overclocked mode.:hap2:

downloaded these drivers the day it got out.

The problem is, it does not have integrated chuck patch for oblivion, and this is giving lots of problems for x1900 users. Check any thread at hardocp or guru3d.

People with x1900 are having weird screen curruption issues.

install the catalyst version that came with the card then run oblivion, if the problem persists try catalyst 6.3, and if u still have probs, the TE gurus(not me) are here.

i am already running patched cat 6.3 m8.

No other driver will run oblivion with HDR+AA. The chuck patch is whatmakes it possible to run HDR+AA.

I wonder why ATI didnt bring it out as stand alone patch or integrate the patch in the newer cats.

Some royalty to chuck and i am sure he would have allowed to integrate it :P
