ATI has is soft launching its X1800 GTO card on the first day of the big Cebit tech-fest in Hangover. ATI has also slashed prices of its entire range of cards to take on bitter rival Nvidia.

Specs of Radeon X1800 GTO :
  • Ultrathreaded Architecture with fast dynamic branching
  • 12 Pixel Shader Processors
  • 8 Vertex Shader Processors
  • 512-bit ring-bus memory controller
  • 256-bit memory interface
  • DX9 Shader Model 3.0 support
  • Simultaneous support for HDR and Anti-aliasing
  • Avivo video & display feature set
  • H.264 playback acceleration
  • Two dual-link DVI outputs
  • Full 10-bit display processing & output capability
  • CrossFire support
  • Single-slot PCI Express board configuration

ATI positioned the X1800 GTO so it would cost less than the Radeon X1800 XL 512MB and the Radeon X1800 XT 512MB video cards. The card will also be cheaper but won't have the same amount of performance as the Radeon X1900 line of video cards from ATI.

The card should be very competitive against Nvidia's 7600GT as the 7600 GT has 128-bit memory. We know that the scores will get very close but after X1800 GTO we're expecting a X1900 GTO that might be even faster.

End-user availability for the Radeon X1800 GTO is slated for March 23.

Price slashed for Radeon X1600 PRO :
  • Radeon X1600 XT sports 12 pixel Shader units, a 128-bit memory interface and the RV530 chip. Its price drops to just $149.
  • The lower-clocked X1600 PRO will now cost just $109.
  • ATI is offereing a three-week price protection period to its partners so no one is going to be sad about these price cuts.
Price drops expected :
  • Radeon X1900 XTX – the current flagship of ATI – will cost $549, companies such as Newegg will sell OEM bulk cards for $499.
  • Radeon X1900 XT will drop to $479
  • Radeon X1800 XT products 256MB should cost around $299 for OEM cards and $329 for the boxed version.
  • Radeon X1800 XL 512MB for $299 and drop the price of the Radeon X1800 XL 256MB.

Here's how the cards match up:
