I have a PC with the foll config
intel 945gnt
p4 ht 3.0 ghz
2 gb ddr2 533mhz

i am a casual gamer and want to play games like aoe3, gta san andreas etc
i was thinking of getting an nvidia card and my system assembler says ati is better
the buget is flexible and i am willing to pay more if its worth it
the most important thing is i dont want my pc bottlenecking my graphics card or the other way round
i have my pc on most of the day and i dont want my gpu to overheat
i am not planning on upgrading the rest of my pc in the near future (say 2-3 years)

i am open to suggestions

You'll get the Nvidia 7600GS/GT around that price ... if looking for ATi you'll get the x1600pro/xt for that range which are not as good as the Nvidia cards ... and no card will last you 2-3 years :)

If getting from abroad get the x1950pro for under 10k

bit keep iin mind that with any of these cards you not get through 2-3 years, cos they are DX9 based and the upcoming games are all DX10 based. so i suggest you wait a bit for abt 6 months and then get a 8600GS type card....this will be far better than any of the current crop of cards...so in the mean time get yourself a reaaly low en d second hand card and save up on the money... and splurge 6-8 months later

thank you guys for the input. Dont want to wait or spend too much. is xfx any good? i live in chennai. is delta computers a reasonable price guide?

Try to get a Palit X1600 Pro 256 Mb fro 4k with some bundled games check Sree Sagarmatha for more info and the card is good for mid gaming and if u want more better try to get X1650 Pro bt . nVIDIA and Ati go for ATI they are better in giving display else FPS are nearly same :D
