Graphic Cards ATI preps release of X1800 GTO

After Cebit, at $249
ATI is getting ready to release its next GTO card. Called Radeon X1800 GTO, it will be nothing more than an X1800 XL cut down to 12 pipelines. A regular X1800 XL card has sixteen.

The Radeon X1800 GTO will come clocked at 500MHz core and 1000 MHz memory and it will be a single-slot configuration.

This card will take on Nvidia's soon-to-be-announced 7600 GT card. It will be a little more expensive, at $249 - Nvidia prices its contender at $199 - but we are sure that ATI can, and will, cut its X1800 GTO prices to $199 if it has to.

The Canadian red boys are quite sure the x1800GTO will beat Nvidia's card, after all we are talking about 256-bit memory interface versus 128, and we know that Nvidia slaughtered ATI X1600 XT cards with its 256-bit 6800 GS cards. It's pay back time, I guess.

We expect to see X1800 GTO cards at Cebit but ATI won't release it yet, as it plans to ship it in week twelve, the next one after Cebit. It won't have the volume to be able to ship the cards before then.
 
nah i don think its gonna be $199. The 16 pipe x1800 xl is still $330. Cut 25 % off ( in price and performance) -> 12 pipes and u get $250 exact. Even if it goes lower itll be lowest 230-240 ish IMO. The 7600 GT on the other hand will be $199 and will prob drop to where the 6800 GS is today -> $170. Id still put my money on the 7600 GT.

The 16 pipe x1800xl with 512mb ram will soon be 299$, though the extra ram adds nothing much to performance in most of the games it will increase prices. A 256mb x1800xl will be priced even lower say 250$ or so. I dont really see why the x1800gto won't fall to 200$ if ATi wants it to ;). Another thing to consider is that 249$ is the mrp and street prices are generally lower.
 
I hope the Prices of the 7900GT falls below 300 Dollars :P. So that i have to pay lesser than 300$ Including Tax :P.
