Bad luck or bad hands??

Hi guys,

I wonder if I am born to screw up things or what??? Ever since I was a kid, no toy, plaything, etc... has lasted for long.... Anything I touch breaks. At 12 I had got a Casio digitall diary. That had to be opened by pressing a button in front and THEN lifting the lid. I wanted to see what would happen if I did NOT press that small button and tried forcing it open. It opened. but the screen was broken and was purple.

This was the first BIG thing I broke. there were hundreds of other stuff which I had broken beofre this.

I also had an airgun. The pistol type. I wanted to see how it works and used a screwdriver to remove the 6 screws. When I had removed all of them, the thing still would not open up fully. I tired pulling it apart and the whole thing literally exploded in my face. Parts went flying all over my room. Could never put it back together. Just threw the parts in the dustbin this morning.

Then I had a remote controlled car. I had wanted one for a long time and finally got it in 7th standard. I got it 4 days before my b'day. The evening before my b'day, I broke the remote(not the whole thing but the stick for moving the car front and back). After that, I had to use the remaining stub to control the car. I tired using Super Glue to stick the stick back on but it bever happened.

Then I had a set of Sony MDR V250V headphones. It was an amazing pair and when I got it, I could never totally aprreciate it tiill I heard another of my friends' headphones.

Anyway, withing abt 3 months, this thing BROKE. It literally broke. My left headset decided to part ways with the main piece. The godd was that because each headset had a wire of it's own, I could still use it. Used Super glu and stuckj it back. Continued to use this set for the next 2 yrs or so. Every 2 months using super glue.

After sometime, I wanted to see how the volume control worked(this was on the cord of the headphones). Removed the 2 tiny screws. And used a soldering gun to remove the wires which were soldered. After I was satisfied, I wanted to resolder them back but there was not enough place to use my large cheap soldering gun. Ended up scratching the PCB. And the headphones have never worked since then.

I still have them in the faint hope that it starts working someday. But I have also lost that inspiration due to my new set an MDR V700DJ.

I also had a SOny D830K Discman which I used till Oct 2004. This was lying at home since abt 92. This was the first discman my dad bought on one of his foreign trips. Anyway, I started using it in mid of 2003. Since then, it gave me flawless service till miod 2004 when I had to spend 500Rs. on getting all the switches changed as they had stopped working. And I did not want to buy a new MP3 player as I went to the SOny showroom and ahad a listen to the new ones right from the top end D-NE900 to the D-NE 600 or whatever and the sound quality was horrible. My 12 yrs old player had better output.

Then heard abt iriver and got one from a dad's colleague coming from Dubai.

Then, disaster strikes. Since I had got my new headphones, I had been preserving it like gold. NOONE got to touch it. I almost htt my dad once coz' he tried it to pluck it from my head in a rough manner.

Anyway, once my iriver came, I took care of that also like gold. And since my headphones had lasted 1 yr(sept 2003 to oct 2004) with nothing bad happening, I thought I had finally got rid of the jinx.

But abt 1 month back, I wanted to upload some songs to my iriver and the damn thing is not being recognised by the computer!!!! WHY??? I had taken such good care of it. But why??? No clue. Tried everything. Reinstalling the software, everything. Updating it, trying it on 3 other computers. Same result.

This is just a short history.

Yesterday, I thought of removing my XP 120 and reinstalling it. Something went horribly wrong as the front part of the XP120 lifted itself and the CPU was stuck to it. Half of the CPU was forced out of the socket and obviously some of the pins of the CPU was bent. I straightened them out(or so I thought) and reinstalled everything. No problems with that.

But then the compyter would never start up. The fan would run and everything but no BIOS, no POSt, nothing. Ripped up my computer again and saw that one pin right in the middle had been bent totally. It was flat against the CPU. there was no place to squeeze in my screwdriver to straighten it.

At this moment, it looked as if that pin would break if I starightened it. Well, u can imagine what sort of thoughts entered my head.

Anyway, luckily for me, I found a compass( the geometrical one.... not thr magnetic one) and straightened it withou breaking it. Finally fir the CPU back into the socket without breaking or bending the other pins. And now, I would like to say that me and me prized possessions live happily ever after but knowing my history, doesn't seem possible.

Wotsay????

Yea ......u shud definately stay away frm ur comp
nd btw bfore u take tht Kingston ram to pack, giv it to me bfore u damage it....   :cool2:

Typical problem if u are using AS5 or its derivatives. It gets bonded to the cpu like glue :p. I generally put a few drops of arcticlean solution under the hsf base from the side if i'm removing it. makes it much more easier to take the cooler out.
