I was trying something out:

Both give the same results. It seems the VBSEO plugin only takes into account the NUMBER id which is specified after the words. True these LINKS help boost the page ranks in google, but:

Isnt it a easy deal to know when Google bots are crawling the sites and give them the full links (type I.) When a user is logged in, generate the LINK TYPE II.

What say?

Since forums comprise of a LOT OF LINKS, this could help some hundred megabytes (mounting to gigabytes, not sure of it)

Just a thought.

very dangerous thing to do.. its known as cloaking and if i have google specific anything and even minor alteration for normal members, google is very good at finding it and you get sure shot ban from google.

As far as url goes, we are looking at no real BW there.. 2-3 words won't save anything. On the other hand the title there might help you to know exactly what the thread is about from any other site(if copy pasted the link)

I'm at a loss too.. as to how a shorter URL will save bandwidth :bleh:
