Specs are definitely better. But they have hindered the experience by putting a resistive touch screen. If they charged just 3k more but offered a capacitive touch screen it would have killed the competition.

Oh no is screen really resistive? Then its definately no go.:(

The tablet is definitely a good deal. While resistive screen is not good compared to capacitive touch screen, it is not that bad either. i have used Ideos S7 briefly before returning it due to audio speaker problems. But I never had problem with resistive screen, in fact it was my first exposure and was good.

If this is the rebrand of Ideos S7, shouldn't it have the phone capability? The original S7 has the phone capability and was compatible with GSM networks.

Yeah thats why they can offer so many features for so cheap ! :P

Its an updated version of the Huawei S7 tablet - Huawei IDEOS S7 - Full phone specifications

@aradhakr84 - Yes its also 3G compatible. If you don't mind a resistive screen this is a pretty decently speced tablet. :)

However battery is a measly 2200 mAH so I don't think it will run very long.

It has Voice capability. From specification on Gsm arena it can play 720p videos so pretty good .

See that does make it a good investment, right? With voice capability and also excellent hardware for 9999. Only downfall is resistive which is not a big deal. But that is my personal opinion only.

Guess with the release of tablets from Beetel, Reliance could heat up competition against the big guns like Apple, Samsung, HTC etc.

That is only on models sold in europe. As I believe the ones sold in US was resistive. They released a new one with capacitive screen and more slimmer called S7 slim priced at same price. But the thing is you lose voice capability with that model.

Also the original S7 does not have 1 ghz processor, it has QSD 8250 processor underclocked at 768 MHz (While it's original clockspeed is 1 Ghz) So I am still doubtful if it is the S7 slim or the original S7.

Since it mentions 1 ghz, maybe it can be S7 slim. If it is, then definitely capactive screen :)

Alright, now this is the best deal 9999 rs can get you :)

I am wondering how Reliance tablet will compete with this. For 12999 it has inferior processor compared to this. Time to spread the news :)

I am sorry but after looking at the unboxing video posted by "Techpal" I have no doubt in my mind that it is indeed S7 and not the slim.

Here's why:

1) The box is exactly same to Ideos S7 I bought from Best Buy this March. Even the packaging and contents are 100% same except for the name on the box

2) Despite the different color, this has exact button layout as the S7 and even the exterior Power buttons, headphone jack, volume rockers look exactly in the same place. Also has a stand and annoying battery door. It is very difficult to open as stand is in the way.

3) The homescreen is exactly what I saw when I bought the S7. It was an Huawei layout and you have brightness/network/wifi on the topmost right side. Even the wallpaper is same

4) If you look at the reviewer, you can see him applying pressure to move the button upwards to lock it. Even when adjusting brightness he has to apply pressure to register and that is what resistive screen is all about

I am 100% sure that it is not S7 slim. I bought S7 in March for one of my cousin in India with a plan to bring with me. So I had a chance to play around with it. It had poor audio problem so I had to return it.

Features:

1) 2 MP camera front and back. No LED Flash

2) Snapdragon 1st gen processor with Adrenos 200 (The ones sold in US is 1 ghz processor which is underclocked at 768 Mhz, But I was able to overclock it to 1.2 Ghz :) )

3) GSM/WCDMA capable

4) 720P video playback. Tested it with Avatar and Transformers 2 Bluray DVD rip/Mp4 and works flawlessly.

5) This has resistive touch screen and I am sure of it.

Look at this Review of S7 and compare this with Beetel unboxing video:

Huawei Ideos S7 Review. - YouTube

Beetel MAGIQ - YouTube

You will see what I am talking about. Other than color it is an S7. So please do not misunderstand it for S7 slim as the slim does not have call buttons and a stand.

Here is what S7 slim looks like:

http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/14/huawei-s7-tablet-first-hands-on/

It doesn't look anything like the S7 or Beetle.

S7 slim cost 300 dollars while the S7 older cost 240 dollars. So I am sure of this.

^^ Damn it we got our hopes high :(

Also one more question....does it come with regular HDMI port ? The original S7 never came with HDMI port and thats the biggest iffy part to think that its S7 Slim

Unfortunately it only comes with a dock on the bottom. But Huawei never released any accessories to go with it. It seemed like Huawei abandoned S7 and went to S7 slim very quickly.

Don't get me wrong, this Tablet is still good. It was by looking at other reviews in Best Buy website that I went to look at it and even bought it to test it out. I liked it and once I overclocked it to 1.2 Ghz, it was really fast and was quite pleasurable. This tablet is perfect for people who does not do any gaming due to Adrenos 200 but use it for Office document view and edit, Watching 720p HD videos and movies, Youtube, Video calling (since it has voice capability), 3g and WiFi Internet Browsing etc. This tablet is still good. But I just wanted to make sure that no one would mistake it as S7 slim rebrand and buy it.

Yes screen looks resistive from that unboxing video.Nevertheless its still a great buy at that price. Great to know it can play 720p videos as mentioned by aradhakr84.

@aradhakr84

can it play youtube videos in website itself?
