Beginner camera in 10k.

for 10k , canon IXUS 105 is gr8 . My friend bought it a month ago .

got a quote of 9.8k with carry case and 2gb micro SD card from the dealer ( checked 2 weeks ago )

the dealer told me something about Canon not providing carry case anymore with any of its model from last month onwards . check it before buying

Is AV100 good enough for "casual" use? I read some reviews about videos freezing in the HD mode so was thinking maybe they corrected that in the AV150. Any first hand experience here with the AV100 guys? Or any other suggestion up to the 7k mark, do not want to spend more than that on it right now.

one thing about canon ixus 105 tht is bothering me is the very cheap looking Plastic switch to change between video and photo modes it looks like it will break at any time rest everything looks fine to me i was also thinking of buying the ixus 105 but now i m thinking about the 120 IS it looks more durable

Hey, I'm new to photography. Looking to buy a beginner camera in 10k. What would you recommend?

If you are looking at photography as an hobby look for used DSLR's on sale at JJ Mehta forums, should get a Nikon D40 or a Canon 350d at 12-14k ranges...
