Belkin F5D7230ak4 wifi router - is it worth it to buy

Belkin model number F5D7230ak4 wifi router
shall i buy or not wanted to know .checked out on ebay it is roughly for rs1700-1800 rs
i like belkin as it is very stylish

I have this same router. Bought for Rs 2000/- some 6 months or so back. Works flawlessly, good range, absolutely no problems at all. I would say - go for it!! It's good VFM
 
Hey Bro...I got the exact same router yesterday.....and seems to be running fine...even though the wizard says Im not connected...i have internet access frm Wired desktop as well as wireless from laptop....however its not secure ..and to configure it ..I have to access the router page which is 192.168.2.1 which im not able to access..... I even tried to hard reset the eouter but no go...im having no issues with internet speed n all.....but cant configure it....

anyone who owns it please help.
 
Have you given a static IP to your PC?

Start>control panel>Network and internet connections>Network connections>Right click on your LAN card and choose 'Properties'> Choose (TCP/IP)> Click properties again>Add your router IP as the Gateway(This is the address that the manual says is your router address)> For IP address, keep the first three numbers same as gateway and put some other number as the fourth number.

Now try putting the gateway in browser. You should be able to login. Use the Login and password as specified in the manual.

Tell me if this works.

Hey thanks for your advice mate....but after scratching my chin for about 120 mins.....I figured that I use proxy address policy (its free internet given by railways) , so I may have to add this private ip address in the exceptions list under tools -> internet options -> connections-> lan settings -> advanced.

after i did that it worked like charm.

I can safely say that Im happy with my router and set up....even though the signal strength is week in other room....the browsing speed is not bad at all.

But now there is new networking query.....if i want to give folder access on my desktop to my laptop ...I cant see the laptop under the users for me to select and give rights? SOS again ...
 
Enable file and printer sharing for your network connection and share the folder which you want to share.

Can you ping your desktop from your laptop and vice-a-versa.

This infact was very basic an I have checked it ..hwever the primary issue is resolved .... earlier my Vista Machine was not able to access folder in XP ...ie because the File Sharing was enabled but under security the group 'Everyone' was not included. How thgat solved the prblem where Vista is able to access files on XP machine.

Now my question/concern is that only vista machine and no other clients should be able to access my files on VISTA ...rather than 'everyone'

for that i go into sharing -> and then permissions -> and then when i go to select object and type the name of my vista machine its not able to find that.

One thing to note is that under the locations ...it does not show the Network name or anything but the just the host machine's name ( xp machines).

1) I have checked that both computers are on same workgroup

2) No firewall issues.

Please note once again that Im able to share files but I just want my vista laptop ( which im not able to see) to see my XP machine and my folders not be shared to everyone on the network.
 
hey guys please check the hot deals section ,i got a deal from belkin dealer at 1425 for this wi-fi router,kindly check it if any body wants ,then only the deal will work.
