My budget for memory & graphics card is $300. Going with eVGA 7600GT for $109. What's the best 2x1gb ddr2 I can get for approx $200 ? Before next weekend.

Most probably I will be using it at DDR2-533 speeds ! I was hoping to use DDR2-667 with tighter timings ( as mentioned in a earlier thread ). The only options I can find now are :

- OCZ SOE $189 : Newegg.com - OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail

- OCZ Gold $199 : Newegg.com - OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail

- Corsair VS $199 : Newegg.com - CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM System Memory - Retail

Yest I saw Corsair XMS2 for $199, disappeared now.

I think the GSkill 2GBHZ kit is 250$.. It is the best buy possible.

Spend 360$.. instead of 300 :P.. Lol..

crucial ballistix were selling for 285$ somedays back. ddr2 1000mhz. check them out if you can extend your budget. otherwise the gskill seems a good choice.

Crucial Anniversary Edition DDR2-667 3-3-3 are also a good deal. They sell for $230 i think
Discontinued I think, anyway not available on Newegg or anywhere else. Crucial (site) is willling to sell it, but for something like $311.

btw, for those of you who don't already know this, list of chips used on DDR2 modules here :

Decided to splurge on Crucial Ballistix 2 x 1GB DDR2 667 for $279 ( ouch! ). Why ? I'll be using it for a long long time, might as well get the best. If the E4300 is not as good as people are expecting, I'll have to go for the (Allendale) E6300 and have to use higher FSB. And, maybe a year or two from now I may upgrade the proc - and will still be able to use this memory.

techPowerUp! :: Crucial Ballistix PC2-5300 2GB Kit :: Page 1 / 4 :

The Crucial Ballistix PC2-5300 modules have broken the 1 GHz barrier with an incredible 1024 MHz, while still retaining the CL4 timings.
Only 1.8V was needed for a very substantial overclock of 183 MHz from their rated speeds of 667 MHz, giving us 850 MHz DDR, while still being able to use fairly tight timings of 4-4-4-12. This configuration would be an ideal configuration for long term use, as the modules don't even get warm on such low voltage. The lifetime of the memory would be considerably increased, while giving you some insane performance!

Mostly, I guess, I got carried away by the D9 craze.

Had to skimp on the graphics card : 7300GT instead of 7600GT.

btw, there's a new DS3 coming -
