depends upon what level of eyecandy u prefer

also, please specify the budget, as i can say get a gtx 480 if no restrictions are made regarding money

but if anyone has a mediocre pc with config core 2duo or dual core then what he should do .should he purchase this gtx 480 ...i think this card will bottleneck the cpu...

I think you mean to say the CPU will bottleneck the GTX 480.The GTX 480 will not bottleneck anything...period.You could try and be more specific in our question.

24" monitor 1920x1200 or 22" monitor 1920x1080-

Full eye Candy-ATI HD 5850 or GTX 460 1GB.

Almost Full-Eye Candy(lesser AA in some games etc)-ATI HD 5830 or NVIDIA GTX 460 768MB.

Medium-High Settings-ATI HD 5770

Medium Settings-NVIDIA GTX 450(Medium-High in most games)

20" monitor 1600x1200 or 1600x900(Widescreen)-

Full Eye Candy-ATI HD 5830 or GTX 460 768MB

Almost Full-ATI HD 5770

Medium High-GTX 450

19" monitor 1400x900-
Full-ATI 5770 or GTX450.

medium-high(Not sure myself)-Maybe HD 5750

This is only a guess based on my experience using a 22" monitor, 20" monitor and 19" monitor with a HD 5770,playing current games.Right now I'm using a friend's BenQ G2220HD and I find the framerates acceptable and the eye-candy is set at full in most games(except MSAA set at 2x mostly),so I guess its a matter of personal opinion. Some ppl are comfortable playing at 2xAA and others can play only at 8xAA(ie. if they can afford it).You should try checking out a friends rig and see if you like the performance and eye-candy it can manage and buy ur rig accordingly.

Right now you can get away with a GTX460 1GB even at 1920 x 1200 rez. Its good enough , more expensive cards have diminishing returns on the investment , sure a GTX480/470 HD5870 provide more frames and in certain cases (Crysis , Metro2033) let you run a higher IQ settigns but mostly the increased frame rate is not worth it to someone looking to get the most bang for buck.

This is really because this current generation of cards have progressed in raw power but most games can be run well even with older cards games atm dont use/require it. Could very well change with newer DX11 games coming out over the next year.

5770 or 460 are great cards at their pricepoint's and make sense if you have the budget and want to max out all settings even without a 1920 1200 screen (1440 or 1680 ish rezzes).

Cards lower than that will be ok for resolutions lower than 1440.

It comes down again to user preferences and budget. Some ppl are ok with turning down the eye candy just a notch some would prefer to play at max settings all the time and spend accordingly, to squeese out every possible bit of eye candy from a game.

you are right nuke em it is based on user experience ...n thanx for the clear cut reply ....anyone who wants to give his/her valuable suggestion for this topic is welcomed :)

but nuke em i think gtx 460 is more better than hd 5770 for 19 inch monitor,.......correct if i i am wrong...

because i have read various reviews from different sites in which this gtx 460 performs better than hd5770 for 1440 resolution gameplay with all settings turned high...

GTX 460 will be better because it is the better card....the monitor size is irrelevant.I just suggested the HD5770 for 19" because it makes more sense money-wise.I frankly wouldn't pair up a GTX460 with anything lesser than a 22 incher. This is because the whole objective for the purchase of a rig is getting the maximum amount of gaming satisfaction within your budget.(Programming nerds like me would identify this as a classic knapsack problem:P).

So GTX460 is definitely overkill.Maybe a couple of games like Metro 2033 and Crysis can actually make use of the extra horse-power but for all the other games the extra juice is just wasted.

i had a 19" CRT monitor(square screen) 6 months back the native resolution was 1280x1024 and obviously the HD5770 maxed out everything at this resolution but now I have a 22inch screen and still most games are maxed-out(except for a few like crysis and metro 2033 are on medium high and except for MSAA which is usually 2x or sometimes 4x).And believe me...the gaming experience on both screens is incomparable. The 22incher beats the 19incher by a mile.

So my advice is buy a 22incher first and then buy the best graphics card you can buy for the remaining amount...anything as powerful as HD 5770 or better will do.If the performance is too bad 6 months later maybe you can add one more HD 5770 in Crossfire or maybe you can upgrade the graphics altogether.

This is the best option.Maximum satisfaction guaranteed:)Trust me you will be missing out on a lot with a 19" screen.
