Guy's which one is the best wifi ADSL modem/router under 5k, don't have any clue anything under 10k :ashamed:

Netgear, Linksys or any cheapo brands ?

I need these functions,

4 LAN ports, ext filter
802.xx b & g,
DHCP server, NAT, PPPoE & oA, bridge/routed modes, firewall, virtual servers, etc..... blah blah.....

54 or 108 mbps :ohyeah:

Thanks.

i'm using netgear DG834GT adsl modem cum 108mbps wifi router. works very well with my mtnl 2mbps connection. previously had some frequent disconnection problem with the adsl modem supplied by mtnl, but ever since i switched to the netgear, my connection is a lot more stable and getting better torrent speeds (150-200kb/sec).

only catch is, i'm not sure if it's available locally. i got mine from ebay US, and cost me abt 5k shipped, plus a 108mbps USB wifi adaptor as well.

^^ the DG834G should work fine too, good price too... but if you want 108mbps, then the model is DG834GT, which is the one i'm using...

BSNL provides Type-IV ADSL modem-router with all the mentioned features for only 1800/-. It's a Huawei SmartMX MT-841, which comes with a 54mbps WiFi PCMCIA card. The card goes into a slot in the modem and enables wireless funtionality.

One can connect using 1 USB port and 4 10/100 LAN ports, besides the WiFi.

^^ COnsider the above one , may be not good as netgear, but havent read any bad reviews about 841, so its price effecient

Did you face any customs problems or had to pay duties ?

i have SmartAX MT880, it gets very hot, freezes occationaly and everytime i change a setting it have to be rebooted :@

Never had any problem with MT841. Works alright with ThinkPad, and connection drops are rare.

@Yummy: how about signal strength/range ? with multiple wifi and wired load does the modem crumple ?. and is it a switch or hub (for the price)?.

With 4 Ethernet, 1 usb and wifi, i assume 5 wired (4 e0 and 1 usb) and min 2 or 3 wireless PC's can connect simultaneously using MT841, am i right ?

Guy's how about SMC brand ?.

man, $$$$ is the main issue. Huawei MT841 wifi adsl modem router Rs.1800/- from BSNL and Netgear 834 Rs.4500/- :( Linksys starts at 6k :@ . I only need it for a short period.

I'm also in the market for one of these, so thanks to the original poster (and for the replies, of course :) ).. How can I obtain the 841? Is it only for sale from BSNL? Wonder if they would sell only the device as I am using another service provider...

Huawei MT841 ONLY available from BSNL if you are their customer.

I'd suggest going for Netgear, SMC or Tp-link products, if wifi rage is an issue.
