Was looking for hdd rates last evening as i always do weekly... i came across dealers keeping Seagate's Pipeline HD series drives..
These were available in 1TB quantity and they sell it for normal 1TB price (of barracuda 7200.12)
this has happened before...but that time it was SV series drive for surveillance..
Pipeline HD vs Barracuda 7200.12
8MB cache on Pipeline HD compared to 32MB of Barracuda 7200.12 1TBdrives
Double random read/write seek for PipeLine HD
AFR (annual failure rate) is also approx double
Specs:-
Pipeline HD and Barracuda 7200.12
So beware while buying...they generally over quote WD 1TB drive forcing customer to buy these drives.
These drives (pipeline HD and SV) are not mentioned under Home>Desktop ..rather under Business>Desktop on seagate web.
Check the Product series before you make a purchase... OR specifically mention you need Barracuda 7200.12 drive when you ask for a quote
