Hi guys
Im using a 256 kbsp conn form exatt and though sometimes i get decent speed from BT its always yellow wich is really irritating.
I was wondering if someone can help me out here cos I have no clue abt port forwarding etc.I donot have a modem and my router (whtevr tht is) is not listed on portforwarding.com.
thnks!

its she and not he btw.
Im not using any firewall and have windows xp.
As i said im using the bittornado client and ight always stuck at yellow!

Well i used to have this problem with ZA and Azureus and the light would stay yellow. Has been solved since i started using Sygate pro. Maybe you ISP has deployed a firewall which could be one of the reasons.

@Nikhil: Din't notice the thread title :|

if u r on lan, like exxat or something, light will always stay yellow, and u will get horrible speeds, unless u do port forwarding.

for best results use bitcomet in NAT environment

Hi, I noticed my isp is using a firewall and in order to stay connected I cant disconnect it.
I have exatt but I dont kn abt port forwarding.Doesnt port forwarding apply to modems?

@IdleWild : since when are u facing this problem? what download speeds r u getting?
also is the initiation remote or local?? if the initiation is local then definately some ports are being blocked

BTW i too have an exatt 256k conx and i am using BitComet and i get speeds upto 21KB/sec and afaik exatt doesnt block any ports coz in emule the arrows r green...
also exatt is having terrible bandwidth problems since a month i am gettin max 22KB/sec on my 256k conx

Hi Wraith
I have started getting decent sppeds now but not will all torrents.Infact yesterday i was downloading 32kb/s which kinda shocked me!
Here in delhi the bandwith is great and it varied from 28 KB/S to 33 KB/S.

to solve this problem is easy.
Simply change the default port to some random no. And if you are using windows built in firewall or any other simply exempt this port from the blocked port.
And NAT issue goes away.
I have sify which has blocked default port 6881 so i simply use port 16881.

You know, I used to change the ports to ones which I knew were open, and BT still did not work - some crazy Sify proxy setup I guess.
Then 4 days ago I installed BitComet and WOW!!!! All torrents work now (after setting the port)

Ok. I am repeating what I had mentioned in some other post. You need to port forward the port that you would be using in the BT. For that purpose you need to configure the router. Most probably you wont have access to the settings of the router. At least I dont have to the router that my Airtel connection has. So you need to contact the technician to port forward the ports (default 6881). If it is a static IP then only this would work. If it is a dynamic IP then it is useless coz when you connect again then you would be getting different IP address. Also see if you have configured your firewall correctly. I had problems with Zone Alarm.

Bitcomet is working gr8 for me.Im on Iquara 40Kb/s plan (getting ~60kb/s).I allmost allways get 4-5KB/s in bitcomet.
BTW im using ZA and AVG with windows firewall turned off.

There is an option in bitcomet to generate and use a random port(go to options>preferances>connections).
