I'm using Windows 98. I just purchased a bluetooth dongle to connect my Nokia phone. Now the bundled application is BlueSoleil(IVT Corp) and there are also bundled driver(which are Legacy Bluetooth Drivers, i suppose). Now the problem is...if i want to access my phone through an external application...how to go about it?
Plz help.

the latest nokia pc suite supports bluesoleil drivers......

Also you'll need to d/l the latest blue soleil drivers as the older version are not suppported by the aforementioned application......

In the meanwhile, you cld use the blesoleil integrated object push and file tfr service to exchange files between from and to the phone

I use Win98 and Nokia PC Suite does not install in that.
I don't want to use Bluesoleil for the Suite. I need it for some other application.
I don't need to exchange files b/w the devices. I want to let another application ie mRouter access the phone over bluetooth. This is for some webcam application.

can't help u there (mRouter)

BTW I use an app called gnubox to enable TCP/IP connection b/w the phonr and PC (My BT dngle is also a Bluesoleil based one)

The problem is BlueSolel detects only these services on my fone >>>
1. Dial up networking
2. File transfer
3. Object push

And when i try to initialize Dial-Up service, it gives error that RAS service startup failed or something like that.

All i want to do is....assign a serial port to my bluetooth connection. So that, other applications can use it.

How can i use gnubox to do that. plz explain.

...which, in my case is not working.
Can anyone plz suggest a trick/software to bind a port to bluetooth connection?
I wish it was as simple in Win98 as in Linux. I just had to enter two commands there and it was working fine.

^^that's kind of funny...It should work....

Gnubox is a pretty nifty s/w...just not that user friendly...Just play arnd with the settings to see if you can get it to work...

BTW, on a side note, any particular reason behing using the POS win98?

Hmmm... i have no doubts about usability of gnuBox. It's just that, i think it can't bind my bluetooth connection to a port. Right?
And,
P III @800MHz
128 SDRAM
910e Intel Mobo.
XP cripples my system.

I used too run XP on my PIII 550mhz 256mb and ran it w-o issues for 2years ....you just need more RAM.....even 256 will do if u switch off all the visual effects.....trust me, ur comp won't feel slow at all....

As for bt...the job of binding the port is done by the bt driver....i am using bluesoleil drivers whic bind two virtual com ports to the bt connection...

@superczar
I've tried Blue Soleil drivers in both win98 and win2000+service pack 3. IT did not create any binding to virtual com ports though it shows that it should.
Can anyone tell me whether Widcomm BT drivers are available for win98 and if they are, from where can i download them from?
