A Russian teen died from a stroke after playing PC games for 12 hours in a computer club. Doctors were taking lifesaving efforts for several days, but could not save the boy. The autopsy showed the young gamer's brain to be totally destroyed.

The boy stayed in the game club longer than safety regulations allowed. When the boy returned home, his inadequate behavior led his mother to call an ambulance. The boy was hospitalized, stayed in the reanimation department for 7 weeks and eventually died. Doctors concluded that computer games launched the development of the brain pathology, which the boy was suffering from, having thus provoked stroke.

Doctors say they learn of computer game addiction developing among teens on a regular basis. According to sociological research, up to 80% of Russian schoolchildren [12-13 years of age] suffer from addiction. Children may spend whole days sitting in front of computers without food, water and rest.

Children's addiction to computer games in Western states gradually takes the scale of alcohol and drug addiction. Such children are excessively short-tempered, irascible and emotionally unstable. They always experience a dire need of playing games, although they realize practical uselessness of such pastime. As a result, computer addicts suffer from inner contradictions between the real and the virtual egos.

Doctors say serious addiction to computer games affects both physical and intellectual development of children, causing depressions and psychological disorders.

Well i know someone who plays ragnarock online for like 8-10 Hrs at a time which is really bad physically as well as mentally !
Gaming is alright to an extent. I always play for like 3-4 Hrs and take breaks in between.

Yeah, me too, max I can do is maybe 5 hours for LAN parties (they are usually twice a year) otherwise after every map of CS, its mandatory for all the players in our gaming centre to get up and walk around till the next map loads and everyone connects...

This is really a superb rule enforced by the owner.

Are these stories for real ? Look like HOAX's to me....here is one more such story I came across last week...
A 24-year-old South Korean man died after playing computer games nonstop for 86 hours, Korean police have said.

The jobless man, identified by police only by his last name Kim, was found dead yesterday at an Internet cafe in Kwangju, 260 kilometres southwest of Seoul, they said.

Quoting witnesses, police detective Oh Myong-sik in Kwangju said the man had been virtually glued to the computer since late last Friday and had no decent sleep and meals.

The man collapsed in front of the counter early yesterday but soon regained consciousness. He then went to the toilet where he later was found dead, the police officer said.

Initial investigation ruled out the possibility of murder, police said. An autopsy was planned.

South Korea is among the world's most Internet-savvy nations with more than half of its 47 million people having access to the Internet. South Korea has some 22,000 Internet cafes, also known as PC rooms.

Many PC rooms are open 24 hours, but no minors are allowed after 10 pm.

Koreans are really Crazy about Gaming, they have even 24 Hrs. Gaming Channels, which just show computer games being played.
The other day i was reading that one player, who lost inventory items in massively multiplayer game to other player, went into other player's home armed, and claimed his items back at gunpoint.Donno if they are hoaxes, but yeah they seem real crazy.

This ****'s real ****ed up! If they don't have enough common sense to stop somebody after seeing him 10 hours in front of the computer, hell, these things are then bound to happen, and will happen, the world we're living in is become wierder day by day.

Just after reading This is came here and read about that kid dying then old man dying.... :S :S
These kind of news will never stop coming unless they become totally serious about it, and make some law to not continue gaming for more than 7 hours at a stretch.
