Which is better Intel Dual core or Core2Duo? Is it a god option for purchasing branded desktops over assembled. If yes, which is a better brand.
1. Dell
2. HCL
3. Acer
Please suggest over warranty claim, services, stability etc.

And, is assembled desktop a better one over branded.
 
i suggest branded for true money value

i dont think u wud get proper money value products in branded pc

i prefer assembled pc always

The core 2 duo will be the best undoubtedly.

Better go for assembled ones, provided you have good Hardware knowledge. They are cheaper and good VFM. You can also select the components according to your taste. And for most of the components you get a min. of 3 yr warranty and for components like hdd you get 5 yrs.

In case you go for branded ones, most probably you will end up getting warranty for 1 yr only the entire setup. And i came to know that the components available for assembled pcs will not be that compatible with branded pc components. Though this is an old fact, i am not very sure regarding the compatibility.

The Pros of a B-PC is, if you have any problems with your pc, then just with a phone call the service enginner of that respective brand will visit your place and repair/replace it. This is useful for people who lack hardware knowledge. So On-site warranty.

The Cons of B-PC is its pricey, incompatibility, less warranty

The Cons of A-PC is - carry in warranty

Yes always. Mention your budget here in TE and the member's will suggest you more better rig than branded one in that budget.

If you dont have much h/w knowledge and is scared off being ripped off with inferior products get this Dell Inspiron with C2D7500 and HD4350 for 27k.

It is the best VFM among the Dell line up.

It will cost you similar to 27k if you go for assembled set up too

E7500 - 5.6k

G45 mobo with DDRIII support - 4.4k

2*1GB DDRIII RAM - 3k

18.5" Dell 1910IN - 6.3k

HD4350 GPU - 2k

DVD R/w - 1.1k

320GB HDD - 2.1k

Total: 24.5k+ 3k for a good cabby + PSU - 27.5k

Even if you go for a el cheapo cabby it will coast 1.5k for cabby and PSU - 26K
 
If its office setup, then please quote how many systems you want, more likely optiplexes will be your best bet and if home usage choose inspiron, if optiplexes are bought in bulk, it can serve as a good VFM too, more likely would be optiplex 380 which will be ready to ship from Jan 30th officially

I approached a PC dealer in my locality. They offer a Dell desktop with the below config:

Intel Core2Duo 2.93Ghz
2GB DDR3 RAM
320 GB HDD
18'5 Monitor
No OS
512 MB graphics card
Price: Rs.35000/-

With Win7 or any other OS(genuine) its 2k extra.
Plus: 4% VAT + 1800 mis charges.

They take old PC, if P4, for Rs.10000/-.

Is this a good deal or any better deal is available in market(Chennai).

this PC has outdated configuration. Intel Core2Duo are now End Of Life(EOL).

don't buy this. just sell your old p4 to them. 10k is good price

Did you even check that the ram is being written as DDR3

That means that the mobo is not core2duo. Its something in the core i series.

Dude, make sure of the mobo and bargain a little. That config should be no more than 30k.

There are core2duo motherboards with DDR3 suppro (many P45 motherboards have DDR3 slots). So it can very well be a Core2Duo system.

@OP - The buyback for your system is pretty good , but i don't think the basic price is very good for just 2GB (yes i know its ddr3, but even then) and no OS for a 35k system. See if you can bargain a little with them.

i think 512mb gfx card in ur sustem would mostly be HD4350\4650......please check that...these cards are no good for gaming....
