Budget 41-50k Budget Gaming Rig

Hi everyone i am planning to purchase a gaming rig and intend to play Crysis 2, BF3, Batman Arkham City etc on highest settings at a resolution of 1600 x 900.

Can you all please have a look at the below config and advise accordingly? I have a tight budget and do not want to get an overkill pc for that resolution.

Notes: OS win7 x64
Will not be overclocking (maybe after a year or so if config shows age)
No online gaming
No SSd

i3 2120 .........................................................Rs.7150
ASRock Z77 Pro4 Motherboard ................................Rs. 9,200.00
GSKILL RIPJAW 4 GB 1600 Mhz ................................Rs. 1,675.00
Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 600 Watts PSU ......Rs. 4,250.00
Gigabyte 7850 OC 2GB ........................................Rs. 16,800.00
Cooler Master Elite 311 Plus Mid Tower Cabinet .........Rs. 3500

My biggest confusion is about the graphics card i have three options to consider:

Gigabyte 7850 OC 2GB ........................................Rs. 16800.00
PowerColor HD 6870 1 GB DDR5 ...............................Rs. 12,500.00
Zotac NVIDIA Geforce GTX 560 Ti OC Edition 1 GB GDDR5 Graphics Card .....Rs.14,850

Thanks in advance ppl. Cheers

Windows 7 64 bit

@alexis machine you cannot over-clock the RIG, you will need a -k marked processor for the same along with the Z77 motherboard.

This is what I suggest --

Intel Core i3 2120 ~6500/-
GIGABYTE-B75M-D3H ~4500/-
Corsair Vengeance 4GB x2 1600MHz ~3600/- [OR get a single module for ~1700/- and add another module 2 -->3 months later]
Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 1TB ~4800/-
AMD HD7850 2GB ~16500 OR AMD HD7870 2GB ~19500/- [from flipkart.com] the nVidia GTX560Ti cannot hold a candle to these cards performance, the GTX660 is something that you might want to wait for. It is rumoured to release on 12[SUP]th[/SUP] September.
Seasonic S12II 520W ~4000/- OR Corsair GS500W ~4000/-
NZXT Gamma ~2500/-

This above configuration will be much better for your needs and all components are available from Lamington Rd.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

Here's wat you'd get-
Intel i3 2120-6.5k OR i5 2400-10.5k
Gigabyte B75M D3H-4.5k
Gskill RipjawsX OR Corsair Vengeance 2X2GB 1600mhz-1.7k
Segate 500GB 7200RPM-3.7k OR 1TB 7200RPM-4.7k
Sapphire HD7850-16k
Seasonic S12ii 520W-4k
Nzxt Gamma-2.4k OR Corsair 400R-5.2k
It'd be better if you get HD7850 as you'll be able to play games @High setting and you won't have to worry for 2years about upgrades.
Hope this helps.:)

Of course what the op must consider is that B75-D3H has only two connectors for fans.. one is for the CPU and the other for the cabinet fan.. so if the op wants additional cooling options then he may consider h77 chipset based motherboards.. like the Intel DH77-KKC or the likes from Asus or gigabyte..

Also, I and @ALPHA17 have pointed out in other threads that to be able to use 1600 MHz frequency of the RAMs on B75M-D3H the op needs to use a 22nm i.e. and IVY bridge processors.. else the frequency will stay limited to 1333 MHz..

Here's wat you'd get-
Intel i3 2120-6.5k OR i5 2400-10.5k
Gigabyte B75M D3H-4.5k
Gskill RipjawsX OR Corsair Vengeance 2X2GB 1600mhz-1.7k
Segate 500GB 7200RPM-3.7k OR 1TB 7200RPM-4.7k
Sapphire HD7850-16k
Seasonic S12ii 520W-4k
Nzxt Gamma-2.4k OR Corsair 400R-5.2k
It'd be better if you get HD7850 as you'll be able to play games @High setting and you won't have to worry for 2years about upgrades.
Hope this helps.:)

thanks for your inputs everyone. much appreciated. i should have mentioned i am going to retain my existing HDD.

so in a nutshell, you suggest i get the following config?

i5 2400-11.8k (flipkart) do we really need a quad core for gaming? read many reviews which show little or no difference as compared to i3
Gigabyte B75M D3H-4.4k (flipkart)
Gskill RipjawsX OR Corsair Vengeance 2X2GB 1600mhz-1.7k (wouldnt it be better to get 1x4Gb?)
Gigabyte HD7850 OC 2GB -16.5k (the sapphire hd7850 has lower clocks but priced 2k more on flipkart)
Seasonic S12ii 520W-4.5k (should i go for the 620 watts version fro 5.4k or would this be enough?)
Nzxt Gamma-2.4k OR Corsair 400R-5.2k

The total comes to 41.3K.

You can go for a quad core now so that future titles also remain playable. For current generation titles you do not require anything more powerful than the Core i3 + good mid-range graphics card.

For RAM going for a dual module setup means that they will work in dual-channel mode which theoretically provides better bandwidth and this can mean ~5 -->10fps difference in gaming. So win-win.

Go for whichever card in the HD7850 family that falls in your budget.

The Seasonic S12II 520W will be enough.

Go for the NZXT Gamma instead of the Corsair Carbide 400R, it will be sufficient for your needs and some more.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

Cheers Alpha17 :yahoo:
Really helped me out.

I forgot to mention one thing that, if you are going to buy the RIG after ~12[SUP]th[/SUP] September it might be better to wait for the GTX660 to show up in India, see how it performs and pricing vis-á-vis the HD7850 / 7870 and then make a decision.
