Hi guys,
My friend is buying a new rig in the next month & he has decided to take a 7900gt.

So is advisable to take a Dx9 card or should he wait for some time & buy a Dx10 card.
Plz let me know ur opinion

"Dx10" cards will arive only this year end or early next year and will be very expensive . So if your friend has a lot of money and is prepared to wait , then in my opinion its well worth the wait. I am waiting for the ATI R600 series card myself.

Also games that will only run on Dx10 are roughly 1.5-2 yrs away.

DX10 cards will not be more expensive than what you'd spend today... Jatin, if your friend has a decent graphics solution until Oct/Nov, I'd say wait for G80 or R600.

Some questions you must ask yourself:

1) Are you satisfied with your current card?

If 'No' then upgrade else don't.

Had I the money I would upgrade if I had anything less than 7800GT(to 7900GTX)

2)When will you upgrade next?

3) How much can you spend now, and how much will you be able to spend the next time.

eg: If you go for a 512mb 1900XT for abt 30k, and sell it 9months down the line, you should get about 15-18k for the same, this way you can buy a new high eng card by shelling another 7-10k after 9months.
