i am pretty confused wether i should buy a 7600gt or wait for a direct X 10 compatible card that would work along with windows vista???

What are you priorities ? Gaming or Waiting for Vista which is pushed back to Q1 2007. If you don't have a decent card right now get the 7600gt or x1800gto, else if you have a good card you can wait it out till such cards release.

Eventually u'll have to get a DX10 card if u want to experience the latest eye-candies that comes with DX10 games like Crysis and FSX.

As blady said, if u have a descent enuf gfx card that can last atleast till Q3 2006, wait for the DX10 cards to arrive or else get a 7600GT. Thats if u are a gamer. Don't bother getting a DX10 card just for running Vista. :)

I have to buy a card and my budget is arnd 14-15K

Should I go for 7600GT(also tell me its price in Delhi)
or
should i Wait for DX10 cards( when wud they be released)

I HAVE NO CARD AS FOR NOW:huh:

This thing of waiting is kind of like saying should i buy these clothes now or wait till the new summer collection releases. Then in summer u would say why not wait for the fall collection. Of course this also depends on whether ur a clothes freak or not ( in this case gamer or not :P). If u have a good card now, it wouldnt matter if ur performance increased by say 20%. But if u have a low end card(or no card) and want to game go for a decent card now. Because by the time games which make full use of DX10 are released(except for Crysis) the next generation of cards would have come out. Its kind of like the time when ATI released the X800 with only SM 2.0 support.

From what it seems, both ATI and Nvidia are pusing the DX10 card releases to next year as Vista is delayed.

So if you want card, get the card.
It will be like a year before we get any mid value decent DX10 card.

wont the HIGH end cards of today be compitable with DX-10 ??? like GEFORCE 7800GT ? ... cause me too planning to buy a good card in 3-4 months..

^^ If you mean by will they work in Vista ?
Yes they will work, but they will not support SM4.0 or any other new features associated with the new API

There's been no indication that DX10 cards will be delayed as a result of Vista's delay... I'm sure nVIDIA wants to regain the performance crown from ATi so Vista will probably not impact both companies launch schedules. From past news threads, G80/R600 will show their heads early Q4.

Unless the card u intend to buy is going to be out in the next two months don't even bother to wait-thats the rule in the graphics card business, bcoz any card u buy will be beaten by a better part within the next 6 months-how long will u wait?

I bought my 6800GS(which was a phenomenal value coz u got nearly 6800U performance by overclocking it for less than $200) in November and now the 7600GT already outpaces it,not very significantly but its still better.

It was always wives, cars, mobiles...

The newest (although one year old) is Graphic Cards.

You always go for them, burn your pocket and after a month think...(You know it dont you...)

"If I would have waited for a month or two more, I surely would have got a better model..."

If you are planning to build a new system when intel's new conroe CPU comes out this yr. end, then wait till that time to get a new graphics card with dx10 and sm4 .else go and buy new cards now.

^^ When they will come out, they will come at all price ranges, its another matter lower end cards wont work with eye candy in the newer games.
