I was doing a regular dusting when I found that my 4 year old graphic card fan is running slow thus heating & hanging the computer past few days.

can the fan of the graphic card be replaced or do I need to replace the graphic card, I will not be changing the computer (spec in my signature) atlesat next 1 year after which i will get a new computer all with SSD drives so then will buy a new graphic card.

should I invest in the expensive card now if the fan cannot be replaced or else buy a cheaper card like xfx 9500GT for 3200/ .............any other suggestion?

or this one

My need is for graphic editing & video editing, watching full HD movies, no gaming.

I think zip tying an 80mm fan to the stock HS would aid in bringing down both noise levels and temperatures. Had done it on my 8600GT and it still runs well.
You mean to say I add on a 80mm fan over the existing fan?

I doubt if this will work in my case as the card is mounted with face down means the fan is downwards so putting a 80mm fan would need a lot of support, how have you done it can you post some images please.

Here is the image of my card.

I meant screw out that fan from the heatsink. Let the heatsink be as it is and zip tie a 80mm fan on top of it with the fan blowing air on the heatsink. This is how i had done it on my 8600GT (method might seem agricultural but its effective), its with a friend now and he using it with no problems at all. Temperatures rarely go above 48C when idle during this summer time and max out around 65-70 deg on full load, which are pretty impressive figures for the G84 GPU. Noise is near non-existent with this fan.
