Can i play Tata Sky HD on Philips CRT TV 29PT8836 ?

I've the Philips 29" CRT Tv 29PT8836. I'm planning to get Tata Sky HD recording set top box for better picture quality than local cable operator.
The Tata Sky shop person was not sure if 29PT8836 can support the HD broadcasting from Tata Sky.

Can someone guide if it can be done and how ?

You cannot view hd channels on crt tv. Upgrade to a LCD tv to watch HD channels.

You can stiil gt the HD set top box. But dont subscribe to the HD packages
 
Well, your TV supports HD video format but with video aspect ratio of 4:3

But you will hardly see any difference between SD and HD channels on CRT (though CRT produce brilliant picture quality) and aspect ratio will make HD channel look like vertically stretched.
 
Lowest quality TataSky dvr supports is 576i. You can watch tv in this resolution only. Higher resolutions than this wont make difference to you since they will be pillar boxed in your tv like watching from a dvd player and you wont like that.
