Is this a good deal? Heard good reviews of people who bought from them on ebay.

I think they ship through BlueDart so, mostly will arrive in two three days.

@Gannu

Nice find mate, but it has only one year manufacturer warranty. So for 2000 bucks extra, he gets a 2gb card as well as one extra year of warranty, which is a better deal IMO.

i have 1000d, personally i suggest u skip it and go for 40d, there a good deal on bangalorephotopgrahy club for 37k,
or wait till sunnyboi sells his 450d and buy it :)
i would suggest u skip the kit lens too :)

I think you should go an buy from a shop.

if you are in blore I could help.

Plus 1000D is a good cam, not bad at all.

AF suxs donkey balls once you realise its shortcomings, so nothing new in 450D except 9 Point AF and 2 more MPs.

Choose your option. Oh and do change the kit lens to a 18-55 mm IS lens, you ll thanks IS for your whole photography experience.

what are the cons of this cam? have read people complaining that main issue is it takes more than one try to focus compared to other dslrs.
(i read this on dpreview forum.)

edit: looks like @blufox experienced that issue as well.

^^^ Problem is Autofocus.:)

Just disable the darn thing and trust your instincts, you ll get it eventually by practise, practise and more practise.

I would suggest save money and invest on glasses(lens).

ergonomics are bad, and i dont find it fast enough, autofocus is slow,

burst rate is slow, and worst of all the viewfinder is quite small too, live view is there but next to useless as its very difficult to hold it steady, even in manual most times the results arent tack sharp, but then its the cheapest canon dslr so u need lot of effort for this!

also, sticking to close to the face hurts my nose!!!:bleh:
The Kit lens i have is IS, but very noisy(sound),very bad in low light capability,I personally find it good only below 30mm,
I myself am considering selling in place of a good second hand 40d or 50d

The other big issue is the non-existent grip. :) Try on a Nikon of the same range (a D3000/D60) and feel the difference in the grip!

But yeah, smartshoppers have great prices for both dSLRs and lenses!
