Hello.

My specs:

CPU: AMD Phenom II x2 560 (unlocked to x4)

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-880GM-D2H http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3515#ov

RAM: 4GB 1600MHz

Monitor: Toshiba 24HV10E 24" HDTV http://www.toshiba.com.my/product/product_details.jsp?productid=24HV10E

I have a Toshiba 24HV10E 24" HDTV and I wish to use it as my sole monitor using HDMI. My motherboard has an HDMI port with integrated HD 4250 graphics. When I use the VGA monitor, I get the display BUT when using HDMI then I don't. I tried using the VGA monitor and then extended the desktop and that didn't work. The only option that worked was duplicate the desktop. But then it works to the maximum resolution of the VGA monitor of 1280x1024.

After setting duplicate, I thought that now since it's working, I removed the VGA monitor. But then the HDMI doesn't work. But if I connect the VGA along with HDMI then it works. But it only works WHEN windows has loaded. That is it doesn't show the BIOS, POSTing and loading windows screen. It starts with the welcome screen. But the VGA shows everything.

I tried running the HDTV before booting the system. Running the monitor AFTER the system has completed booting. Unpluging and replugging the HDMI cable. But still can't use the HDTV as a sole monitor. I works only alongside with VGA monitor and only in duplicate desktop settings with max 1280x1024 resolution.

Kindly help with a solution.

Connecting HDMI devices

• When turning on your electronic components,

turn on the TV first, and then the HDMI device.

• When turning off your electronic components,

turn off the HDMI device first, and then the TV.

• This TV may not be compatible with features

and/or specifications that may be added in the

future.

• This TV is only operable with L-PCM on

32/44.1/48 kHz and 16/20/24 bits.

• This TV is able to connect with HDMI devices.

But it is possible that some HDMI devices may

not operate properly with this TV.

Connecting an HDMI device

The HDMI input on your TV receives digital audio

and uncompressed digital video from an HDMI

device.

This input is designed to accept HDCP

programme material in digital from CEA-861-D

compliant consumer electronic devices (such as

a set top box and DVD player with HDMI output).

The HDMI input is designed for best performance

with 1080i (50/60 Hz) and 1080p (50/60 Hz)

high-definition video signals, but will also accept

and display 480i, 480p, 576i, 576p, and 720p

(50/60 Hz) and VGA (VESA 640 × 480 @ 60 Hz)

signals.

• HDMI: High-Definition Multimedia Interface

• HDCP: High-bandwidth Digital Content

Protection

• CEA-861-D compliance covers the

transmission of uncompressed digital video

with high-bandwidth digital content protection,

which is being standardized for reception of

high-definition video signals. Because this is

an evolving technology, it is possible that some

devices may not operate properly with the TV.

• Acceptable PC signal format:

S-VGA: VESA 800 5 600 @ 60 Hz

XGA: VESA 1024 5 768 @ 60 Hz

W-XGA: VESA 1280 5 768 @ 60 Hz

W-XGA: VESA 1360 5 768 @ 60 Hz

S-XGA: VESA 1280 5 1024 @ 60 Hz

However, these signal formats are converted to

match the number of pixels of the LCD panel.

Therefore, the TV may not display small text

properly.

If you connect this unit to your PC, the

compressed image is displayed in S-XGA mode,

therefore the picture quality may deteriorate and

characters may not be read.

• L-PCM: Linear-Pulse Code Modulation

• Supported Audio format: L-PCM sample rate

32/44,1/48 kHz

Look for any settings in the BIOS which might make the HDMI port as primary display port. However i dont have any idea about Gigabyte boards in this aspect....
