hello!

a friend of mine recently booked a renault pulse. we're looking for stereo components for the car online. for now, we've chosen these:

1. pioneer HU - X559UI V/S X369UB........can't ascertain whether only X559UI has a 24-bit DAC, or both have it. pioneer's website has a logo of 24-bit DAC on the listing of X369UB, but nowhere is it mentioned in writing. will write to pioneer too to know more.
also, X369UB isn't detachable i guess, as it mentions that it doesn't have anti-theft mech.

2. speakers - pioneer TS-A935H for rears; pioneer TS-R1650S for fronts

OR

JBL GT6 S699 for rears; fronts not decided yet, as he's yet to enquire whether 5.25" or 6.75" speakers would fit in front doors.

i've read that pio+jbl combo is said to be bright, but also that jbl speakers have a very good bass response; and
pio+pio combo is warmer. my friend likes to listen more of trance, techno, house types of music, hence we kept pioneer speakers as the 1st preference.

please advise. would be placing the order tomorrow, either on snapdeal or on amazon, or on both.

P.S. - budget is a bit flexible, but prefer to limit the expenditure to 10k.[DOUBLEPOST=1421214144][/DOUBLEPOST]would appreciate if someone could reply today, as have to place order by tonight. :D

You know after a while, your ears get tuned to the speaker sound. And then it won't matter at all.
Besides, preferring techno trance has got nothing to do with what sound signature one likes.

I have Quad speakers, which every idiot claims is great for classical music only.
But honestly, I love listening rock, metal, trance, house, ... every kind of music on it.

So you have to fist ascertain what sound signature your friend prefers. Does he have a habit of turning up the bass every time he fiddles with EQ?
Or does he prefer to turn down the treble? What about midrange? Honky? Nasal?

Sorry to jump in between.

Guys I am planning to take a decent audio system for my car to gulf. Do you recommend it ? Or should I simply go for a new or second hand one there it self with speakers ?

thanks for the reply! even i would tend to agree to your sentiment. the set-up i've got in my own car (Kenwood HU + Focal speakers) are said to be very bright and forward by some, but i don't find that at all, and enjoy listening to every personal favourite genre on those!

however, my friend didn't have ICE in his previous car, and this would be the first time he would be getting and using the stereo set-up.
AFAIK, on his home speakers, he doesn't fiddle with the default settings, may be just turns up the bass somewhat, but the latter's only my guess. the one time i had seen him listening to them, i didn't notice him adjusting any settings. he won't play the car-stereo loud, that's for sure.

yes, you had suggested one. but i didn't approach them as thought it would feel bad to make them go through the hassle of letting me have a demo and explain to me the differences, and i not buying anything from them. there's no other place AFAIK near my area where i could have a demo, except a car-accessories store, but which has a JVC set-up for demo. but anyway, its too late now. have to place the order tonight, if i can't succeed in coaxing him to push the purchase again to a day ahead, like i've been doing since Sunday. :D

actually now he suggested a JVC+JBL solution for the said genres of music. plus, the car-showroom has agreed to source and fit the components in his car themselves as well, so perhaps no online shopping will be needed. :)

JBLs will produce good bass. Your friend would be happy.

alright. thanks! even i read so. didn't place an order y'day night. have thought to go with Pioneer X369UB for head-unit, and have also read some very good feedback on pioneer+JBL combo on 2 other forums (my friend is not quite excited to get a JVC HU). one thing more - a warm and laid-back sounding speaker would reproduce vocals, jazz, instrumentals, movie songs and such better, is it? i read some good reviews about Pioneer TS-A935H speakers, albeit they are told to be warm sounding to some. if that's the case, then finalising JBL for speakers would be far easy! :)

how will be blaupunkt HU and speakers as a combo? specifically, new orleans 220 as the HU, and a 440W ovals-pair + a 6" co-axials for the fronts (don't know the specifics yet). anyone has any idea?

At Reliance shops whenever I compared the Pio speakers with JBLs, the Pioneers did sound warmer (which means less of >3kHz ear piercing spectrum ).
But I would still stick to what I said about genre and speakers/sound being disconnected.
Speaker sound signature is personal preference. And that preference applies to any genre that you may listen to.

No idea about Blaupunkts.

alright. thanks for sharing your experience! friend's exploring options in Blaupunkt. should get to know the models of the speakers tonight.
