Airtel upgraded my connection to VDLS and provided Huawei HG360a.

Hardware version AM1HG630M01VER.B
Software version V100R001C298B012

now i can't change the default ip to anything other than the default 192.168.1.1.
Either its saying parameter invalid or it simply resets / doesn't save.

(searing online looks the software is custom made and many settings are not present in this model)

Is anyone able to successfully change their IP range ?

Seems like a bug. Save your router configuration on a notepad separately. Try resetting the router to factory defaults. Upgrade your router software to the latest version.

Slightly OT. I'm on Airtel too. My WiFi router died. Since they're giving all VDSL customers this Huawei modem + wifi router, I was considering asking them for one instead of hunting for a new wifi router. I'm not too bothered about advanced settings. Would you say this is a decent router otherwise?

"decent" has different definition for different people. if you are asking for range its ok-ok. my 10-years old linksys wag200 has better signal strength.
this router can perform similar to any 999 -1999rs bracket router can do, its locked by airtel and you can't change IP or even upgrade firmware -- more short of plug and play router.

on other development, im not getting the promised speed of 40mbps, 0.75mbps upload ~17mbps download is measure under best condition wired. so i'm moving away from airtel to ACT and buying myself Archer C7.
