Graphics card

....i need the cheapest possible option that lets me play games at 1920x1200 , at full effects.

What am i thinking :

i5 2500k + motherboard( ?? )

Gskill Sniper 2x4gb

HD7950 / GTX570

WD black

Nzxt gamma ( anything cheaper with good air flow ?? )

FSP 650 W 80+silver

any DVD writer

the thing is i as also looking at the 2700k and the soon to be launched 3820 , but i dont think i will get much performance increase ( in gaming ) so the 2500k , but ill the 2500k will bottleneck 7950 ?

PLease give links for purchase , with your suggestions .

Hope this helps

thanks for quick reply .

but 14K on motherboard ?

cant i have a p67 based mother board and save , say, odd 6-7K, will that hamper the performance a lot ?

Well there's no use of getting i5 2500k if you aren't getting good 10-12k mobo for ocing it,If you want to overclock theni5 2500k+Asus P8P67-M-9.5k is at least what you'd get.

If you only want to put 6-7k on the mobo then i'd suggest you get-

i5 2500-12.5k+Intel DH67BL-B3-5.6k,you won't be able to oc this cpu but it'll give you good enough performance comparing 2500k

but does CPU overclocking affect performance in games that much ?

wont the money be better spent on a higher end graphics card ?

edit: just saw that in the intel board ram upto 1333 are supported , so the sniper RAM sticks wont perform to their level, what to do ??

Yes they do .

Whatever horsepower your graphics card has , it does not perform up-to it's full potential unless you club it with a good processor .

core i5 sandy-bridge at 3.33 GHZ is more than enough for gaming though .

But you should always go for an overclockable processor so that you are future-proofed (i.e if you feel the need you can overclock)

And since you mentioned that you want a high end system , Jakob suggested you most bang 4 buck system (pura vasool ! LOL !)

If you don't want to spend that much on processor , then you can go for -

1) core i5 "2500" and not "2500k" (11k) + H67 mobo (6-7k) (non-overclockable and non-futureproofed)

2) core i5 2500k (~13k) + H67 mobo (6-7k) (non-overclockable because of motherboard but can be made overclockable by going with z68 or p67 mobo and hence future-proofed .

And yes , you are better off with a 1333 MHZ ram if you are going with a cheaper mobo .

unless you spend something like 12-13k for mobo that can support upto 2133mhz of ram frequency

if you are not willing to spend more in the board, no use getting a "k" processor or 1600 Mhz Memory.

Moreover, if you are planning for a GPU like 7950, i would suggest to get a better ( read bigger) cabinet than Gamma. Antec 300, CM 690, Corsair Carbide 400R are a few good VFM options.

I suggested i5 2500k+ 13k mobo since you choose i5 2500k,so this should be your final config-

the thing is , i want the cheapest solution.

let me explain .

i have to spend 60K on CPU+MB+Gfx Card

1. i5 2500k + good z68 board + hd7950 = 14+14+31k= 59K

2. i5 2500 + intel h67 + HD7970 OCed version = 13+6+40 = 59K

which do you think will perform better ? ( JUST FOR GAMES )

I dont think an overclocked 2500k can be called futureproofed , in comparison to bare 2500

IMO future proofed means , having money in the bank account
<

Latest game titles are mostly gpu powered and there's not much difference between K and non K proccy so i'd suggest you to get the second rig and save up the cash for HD7970,gaming wise this is the best option.

Spending 40k on HD7970 is not a good deal imo . Overpriced if you ask me . Get instead HD6990 or gtx590 for same price .

Or just get HD7950 at 32k . 8k cheaper but ~10% slower ; ie 20% more money and 10% faster .

So you decide .

Even gtx580s have dropped as low as 28k are good deals too
